Technetics Group forms German subsidiary

Technetics Group, part of EnPro Industries, has established a

German subsidiary to represent the company in Europe. The group was previously represented by Garlock GmbH, an affiliate of sister EnPro com-pany Garlock Sealing Technologies.

With its regional headquarters based in Neuss, near Düsseldorf, Technetics Group Germany GmbH offers brand-name products for critical applications in the aerospace, semiconductor, oil and gas, power-generating, nuclear, medical device, pharmaceuticals, land-based turbine and valve industries. These include high-performance sealing products, polymer technologies, rupture discs, semiconductor equipment and chamber sub-systems, acoustic media, accumulators and bellows.

Also offered are sub-assembly and testing capabilities, plus a number of services covering a wide variety of coatings, textures and join-ing systems. In addition, for advanced R & D capabilities the firm has access to the group’s Maestral Laboratory in Pierrelatte, France.

Staff at the newly-formed subsidiary include Thomas Ritter. Based near Frankfurt he is the group’s senior market manager for the nuclear, land-based turbines and aerospace sectors. Sales engineer Reinhold Seeman is based in Karlsruhe in southern Germany, while sales representative Jörg Koritkowski is located near Hamburg in northern Germany. In addition, Cindy Held, who works within sales at Technetics Group France, offers support to German customers for sealing products.

Dana opens R & D centre in China

US company Dana Holding Corp has officially opened its new 12 000-m2

(129 000-ft2) technical centre in Wuxi, Jiangsu Provence, China.

The Dana China Technical Center will pro-vide product and applications engineering for original equipment manufacturers in the light-vehicle, commercial-vehicle and off-highway markets in China and throughout the Asia–Pacific region. It includes a 5800-m2 (62 000-ft2) test laboratory and provides 3200 m2 (34 000 ft2) of manufacturing space to supplement an area of 17 000 m2 (183 000 ft2) dedicated to the manufacturing facility at adjacent Dana Wuxi Technologies Co Ltd.

‘Dana has a long history of product innova-tion and the Dana China Technical Center will enable the company to take advantage of technology synergies across all of the markets and customers we serve around the world,’ commented Roger Wood, President and Chief Executive Officer, Dana.

‘For more than two decades we have recog-nised the importance of supporting the Chinese market, and we will continue to allocate an increasing share of our resources towards sup-porting our customers in the region.’

Dana serves more than 100 customers in China, including Beijing Jeep Corp, BMW, Daimler, Dongfeng Motor, Ford, Jinbei, SAIC, Sany, SGM, Southeast Motor Corp, Toyota, VW Group, XCMG, XGMA and Zoomlion.

The centre – the company’s fifteenth advanced engineering facility – is devoted to the research, design, development and testing of sealing, drive-train and thermal-management products. Fully integrated into Dana’s global research and devel-opment system, it has been equipped to sup-port new products, from concept development through to launch, and to adapt technologies developed elsewhere in the world to satisfy the specific needs of the China market place.

The company says that the number of engi-neering staff at the centre is expected to rise from 50 to about 130 by 2016 to facilitate the delivery of new products for China and the sur-rounding region.

Ellsworth Adhesives acquires AMT

In the USA, Ellsworth Adhesives, a major distributor of adhesives, seal-

ants, coatings, encapsulants and dis-pensing equipment, which is based in Germantown, Wisconsin, has acquired Adhesive Methods and Technology (AMT) of Memphis, Tennessee.

Henrik Lange is appointed Group CFO, SKFTore Bertilsson, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), SKF, has retired after nearly 24 years of service. Henrik Lange, who has taken over his responsibilities, previously served as President, SKF Industrial Market, Strategic Industries, and is also a member of SKF Group Management. In other news, Rakesh Makhija has been appointed President Industrial Market, Strategic Industries. Previously employed as President, SKF Asia – with overall responsibility for China and India – he joined SKF during 2002 as Managing Director, SKF India Ltd.

Shell forms five-year agreementwith John Crane US-based designer and manufacturer of mechanical seals, couplings and hydro-dynamic bearings John Crane Inc has been awarded a five-year enterprise framework agreement (EFA) by Shell to supply products and services for its upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas operations worldwide. Under this global agreement, the firm will be a key supplier of mechanical seals and seal support systems used for new projects and associated aftermarket services in existing facilities. Additional products that may come under the agreement include couplings, bearings and speciality filters.

Dana reports record full-year resultsDana Holding Corp of Maumee, Ohio, USA, recently posted sales for fiscal 2012 total-ling $7.2 billion, compared with $7.5 billion reported for 2011. The impact of currency lowered sales by $322 million compared with pervious year. The supplier of driveline, seal-ing and thermal-management products says that excluding the effects of currency, sales increased in most of its segments although this growth was offset by a decline in Commercial Vehicle sales of $169 million, principally reflecting weak end-market demand.

Exol Lubricants invests £2 million in site redevelopmentExol Lubricants, one of the UK’s largest independent lubricants manufacturers, is investing more than £2 million in redevelop-ing its head office and manufacturing site, based in Wednesbury, West Midlands. This will include the demolition of the current Victorian building and the creation of mod-ern, steel-framed, purpose-built premises, which will house a new research laboratory and production line. The redevelopment of the 11 150-m2 (120 000-ft2) site will start in July and is expected to take six months to complete. The firm is also making improve-ments to its site in Rotherham. As yet, details of these changes have not been announced.
