Osechi originally means that dishes offered to the gods at the seasonal turning points of the year. Every dish in the above picture, which looks so delicious , is prepared wishing for the health , long life , rich harvest ,and so on… We use many auspicious ingredients that are believed to bring good luck by eating many kinds of delicious foods and taking enough nourishment ,we hope to lead a healthy life and wish for long life . in addition, preparing dishes that keeps for long means that housewives can rest and relax without cooking in the kitchen during the first three days of New year called “sanganichi”( ). “Osechi” was originally served in five boxes ,but nowadays it is usually served in 2 or 3 boxes . “Osechi” dishes placed in each box.
