team captain's kit
TRANSCRIPT
Thank you for organizing a team!
The North Shore Cancer WALK has always been about teamwork! Its success relies on teams of
friends, families, co-workers and neighbors, led by people like you. As a Team Captain, you are in a
unique position to build excitement within your team. They can rally around you to get the word out to
their supporters to raise much needed funds for oncology services, right here on the North Shore.
Over the last 30 years, countless patients have been able to participate in clinical trials, have
access to new treatments and experience the convenience of receiving their care close to home.
Despite this incredible achievement, we continue to need your support – cancer is still claiming
the lives of our family, friends and neighbors. And in this time of Covid, we need your more
than ever!
This kit will give you all the tools you need to get started. And of course, we are just a phone
call (978-825-6232) or email ([email protected]) away if you need help registering or
have any questions at all.
Now let’s see that Teamwork in action!

more people bring new ideas to your team. And don't forget virtual participants! Do you have
friends and relatives across

via Zoom and brainstorm ideas
for how you are going to get the
word out, discover your creativeness with new virtual fundraising ideas and let everyone get to
know each other. One of our knowledgeable North Shore Cancer WALK organizers can even

7. Get going! It's never too early or late to start fundraising to help make these crucial services
available and to help us continue our mission
Fundraising Tips toGet You Started
Just ask! It's so simple but so easily overlooked. Aim for one a day - ask one person per1.
day to donate to your team. Make the "ask" a part of your daily schedule so you don't
forget.
2. Create an email campaign - Generate an email list of supporters and le them know why
you are fundraising for the North Shore Cancer WALK, that you need their support and
ask them to join you! A good rule of thumb - send updates to your benefactors letting
them know how your fundraising is progressing. It will show them the impact they are
making.
3. Use social media - share your WALK story, your fundraising events on social media. It's
a great way to keep your supporters engaged.
4. Make sure you let us know about any fundraising events you hold. We will add them to
our events calendar and share on the WALK's social media pages.
5. Make a self-donation to get the ball rolling.
6. Ask your workplace if it has a matching gifts program. Such an easy way to double your
donation.
7. Check out more ideas in the online Virtual Tool Kit.

This year's North Shore Cancer WALK will once again be virtual due to Covid-19 As much as we want to
see all our teams together again, the safety of our WALKers is of utmost importance. That being said, it
gives you much more flexibility for when and where your team walks.
Your Team Colors - Many teams create their own Team shirts and wear them on WALK Day. Get
creative and come up with a cool design, or you can purchase a 2021 North Shore Cancer WALK shirt
from our online store.
Complete your socially distant WALK any time between now and June 27, 2021. Do you have team
members who are unable to physically walk? That's ok, they can still participate as a member of your team.
Can't make the whole 10K distance? No problem, do as much of the WALK as you can comfortably do.
The camaraderie you build within your team is what makes all the difference.
Once your team has completed its WALK - SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! We want to see photos and videos
of you and your team out on your route. And don't forget those team members you may have recruited
from out of state - have them take their pictures as well and tell us where they're from. Send your
photos/videos to us at [email protected]. We'll include them in our year-end photo montage!
