“We teach through a re-arrangement of the raw reality: a specimen, a mana- geable sample of a whole. . . When the direct experience cannot be used properly in it’s natural setting.” – Edgar Dale

What are Contrived Experiences?
![Page 4: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Contrived Experiences- Make use of a representative
models or mock – ups of reality for practical reasons and so that we can make the realLife accessible to the student’s perceptions and understanding.
![Page 5: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
What are varied types of contrived experiences?
![Page 6: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Model Mock Up Specimen and Object Simulation Games
![Page 7: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Model–is a reproduction of a real thing in a small scale or large scale or exact size but made of synthetic material. it is a substitute for a real thing which may or may not be operational.
![Page 8: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Mock – Up - is an arrangement of a real device or associated devices where the parts of a model are singled out, heightened and magnified in order to focus on that part or process under study.

specimen is any individual or item considered typical
of a group, class or whole.objects
include artefacts displayed in a museum or objects displayed in exhibit or
preserve insect specimen in science.

simulation
a representation of a manageable real event in which the learner is an active
participant engaged in learning a behavior or in applying previously acquired skills or
knowledge. example: election or earthquake drills
![Page 11: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Game – is another example of contrived experiences. It is an active participation through rules and regulation.
![Page 12: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
PURPOSES OF GAMES
• Develop changes in attitude• Change specific behavior• Prepare for participants for assuming new
roles in d’ future• Help individuals understand their current roles• Increase the students’ ability to apply
principles
![Page 13: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Why do we make useof contrived experiences?
![Page 14: teaching with contrive experiences](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070513/5882fb931a28abe70d8b47b1/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
1. to overcome limitations of space and time
2. to “edit” reality for us to be able to focus on parts or a process of a system that we intend to study
3. to overcome difficulties of size4. to understand the inaccessible5. help the learners to understand
abstractions
