From health and safety to the contextual study of dance, practical observation of teaching to planning, evaluating and leading your own dance classes, a regulated initial teaching qualification not only makes you much more employable, but more fully prepares you for the day when you might open your own dance school. The Company is proud to oer the opportunity to obtain the ISTD’s teaching qualifications, the Level 3 Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI) and Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education (DDE). The DDI is aimed at anyone 17 years or older who wishes to begin training as a dance teacher and the DDE oers those 18 years or older, who have already achieved their Level 3, the opportunity to complete their training and become a fully qualified and regulated ISTD dance teacher. Both the DDI and DDE are regulated by the Regulatory Bodies in England and Wales and (Ofqual for England and Northern Ireland, and the Department of Education and Skills for the Welsh Assembly) and are on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and award 68 and 92 QCF credits accordingly. This means that, as well as standing alone as respected dance teaching qualifications that give you the opportunity to teach across a wide variety of dance genres, they can contribute towards other higher level qualifications. The Company is proud to oer all units of the DDI and DDE qualifications in Modern Theatre and Tap Dance genres. All units of the qualifications are delivered by our two expert tutors: Aaron Lissimore FISTD, Dip. Dance Pedagogy Jessica Morgan-Beale FISTD The Company Studios Our studio complex in Clacton on Sea oers unrivalled facilities within the Essex area. We boast 3 large mirrored studios, sprung professional dance flooring, changing rooms, study room, a spacious reception area which incorporates a dance apparel shop, social and waiting areas, scenery workshop, costume store, kitchen, oces and a large car park. Diploma in Dance Education (DDE)

The DDE is a Level 4 qualification which will allow you to be a recognised qualified dance teacher by the ISTD and be ab le to teach ISTD dance to your own students. Students will have the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to teach dance, especially focussing on a knowledge of pedagogy and related aspects essential for an appreciation of teaching dance to children and adults. On completion of the DDE, teachers have the option of continuing to higher level qualifications, including Licentiate, Fellowship, BA and MA degrees.

Unit 1 - Observation and Understanding of Teaching and Learning Techniques. Submitted Portfolio

Unit 2 - Promotion of Health and Safety in Dance. Submitted Tasks & Written Exam.

Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI)

The DDI is a Level 3 qualification which gives prospective dance teachers a solid grounding in the skills and knowledge required to teach dance in a safe environment. It consists of four mandatory units. Two units are generic and cover teaching skills with a focus on teaching observation and safe dance practice. The other two units are dance genre specific and focus on the technical, performance based and musical knowledge required at this level both through personal performance and that of pupils at various levels. This qualification serves as a basis for the development of practical teaching skills at Level 4 with the DDE.

Unit 4 - Dance Practice and the Relationship between Music and Dance in a Chosen Dance Genre. Practical Examination.

Unit 1 - Planning Techniques & Evaluation of Dance Teaching. Submitted Portfolio.

Unit 2 - Dance Teaching Practice. Teaching Assessment

Unit 3 - Lifespan Development and Learning in Dance. Submitted Tasks & Written Exam.

Unit 4 - Dance Practice and the Relationship between Music and Dance in a Chosen Dance Genre. Practical Examination.

Unit 5 - Contextual Study of Dance. Submitted Essay or Audio Visual Presentation.
