This presentation aims to show the importance of PDHPE for every child in primary schools using the K-6 Syllabus.

Importance of PDHPE

As society is changing children need to be educated on the importance in healthy and active lifestyles. The PDHPE unit is an important KLA in the primary curriculum and children’s lives. Some reasons include;

Understanding and valuing of self and others

Physical activity

Physical, social, cognitive and emotional growth

Development and maintenance of positive relationships

Positive health choices

Importance of PDHPEPDHPE enables children to be involved in fun and engaging activity’s. They develop a variety of skills. These include;

PDHPE explores a number strands in the Syllabus which enables the children the knowledge and skills to lead a healthy, active and fulfilling life. This helps the children to adopt a responsible and productive role in society. The strands include:- Active Lifestyle - Dance- Games and Sports - Gymnastics- Growth and development - Safe Living- Interpersonal Relationships- Personal Health choices
