teaching digital natives - moving to the future
DESCRIPTION
Med udgangspunkt i begrebet “digital natives” rejser Marc rundt i hele verden og holder oplæg om, hvordan unge, som er født ind i den digitale tidsalder, har en anden tilgang til virkeligheden og specifikt til indlæring.I dette oplæg vil han sætte fokus på kritiske spørgsmål som, hvordan man engagerer elever i læring, hvordan lærerens rolle har ændret sig i dag, hvordan teknologien spiller en stor rolle i nutidens undervisning. Hans svar på disse spørgsmål er, at den samme digitale teknologi, som har skabt ændringerne, også er med til at gøre læring i dag mere effektiv. Oplægget fortæller os konkret, hvorfor og hvordan dette sker.TRANSCRIPT

Here are
some
questions
that
interest me
© 2012 Marc Prensky
3. How can I move into the future
and still preserve the past?
1. How can I engage my students?
2. How can I instill in them a love
of music and learning?
4. How can I use technology most
effectively in my teaching?
© 2012 Marc Prensky
5. In continuingly making things
shorter and faster and more
technology-based, Are we losing
anything of importance?
Are we gaining anything useful?
Are there tradeoffs we need to
make, and if so, how should we
make them?
© 2012 Marc Prensky
6. What is the relationship between
music and technology?
Is technology making kids better
musicians? Can it?
Is there such a thing as
“Musical Digital Wisdom”?

Here are the
BIG IDEAS
I want to
discuss today:
1. ADAPT TO A CHANGING CONTEXT
2. LISTEN TO THE KIDS
3. CHANGE PEDAGOGY
4. USE TECHNOLOGY WISELY
5. TEACH THE RIGHT STUFF

What are the key
verbs (skills)
we want our students
to learn, practice and
master?
We must ask:

“Am I using the

There are things our brains do
well,
and things machines do better
Becuase
• Reasoning
• Reflecting and contemplating
• Combining reason and emotion
• Solving problems
• Learning from experience
• Working with other people
• Creating
• Storing and retrieving
• Building up expertise
• Having empathy
• Having a sense of context
• Having a sense of humor
• Telling stories
• Having musical thoughts
Brains ARE good at:
© 2012 Marc Prensky
• Using millions of data points
• Understanding others’ thoughts and intentions
• Predicting the future
• Dealing with extreme complexity
• Going beyond our senses
• Holding multiple perspectives simultaneously
• Separating emotional and rational
• Remembering everything we hear, think or read
