Throughout the year in 7-8 week project blocks of

time.

Students will have followed through a number of specific projects across the year in year 7 which will vary from group to group depending on the time of year within the rotation. All groups will complete all of the projects for each of the departmental areas and will follow the design process for all of these throughout. One theory lesson per week will take place to support students to also assist with student’s research and all students will have a theory workbook which they will work in which will form part of their individual folders for each project completed.

The steps that will be followed are outlined below in stages and may vary from project to project slightly depending on emphasis in that particular project. Problem / Brief: Setting out what exactly you are about to do in your project Research: Investigation of different opinions, materials, processed, tools, equipment and current products available on the market. Specification: Setting out all of the points that you will achieve in your project using ACCESSFM as your template for doing this, along with the help sheets on the MLE Ideas: A broad range of ideas, sketched and using CAD, to show what you might do, including notes and evaluations. Developed / Final Idea: A final solution drawn, planned and explained fully so that it can be made by you, or others. Making: A detailed record of how you have made your product and any changes you have made as you have gone along with justification.
