Sonia Sotomayor Poster

Purpose: Analyze the book, Sonia Sotomayor, at the literal levelDuration: 2.5 hoursResources/Supplies: poster paper, markers, class set of Sonia Sotomayor, line paper, pencils/pens
1) Assign students into groups of 4-6. Assign each group one chapter
of the book.
2) In groups, students will look for textual evidence to answer the
following questions about their assigned chapter:
• What happens in the chapter? (3-5 main points/events)
• What are 3 characteristics revealed in this chapter about Sonia
Sotomayor?
• Why did the author title this chapter the way that she did?
• Draw a picture that summarizes the chapter.
3) Each group will create a poster with the above information listed.
4) Each group will present their poster to the rest of the class.
This can also be done with smaller groups (2-3 students) using a quad chart with one of the above questions
in each section. Partners will work together to complete the chart and then share with the rest of the class.
Padlet is a great forum that students can use to create an online poster/presentation. It appears much like a
Facebook wall and can be used for presentations and or real-time discussions. - https://padlet.com
