Teacher Resources on the Web
By Margie Genereux
Where do we start???
Educators are somewhat baffled by the wealth of useful and sometimes USELESS or incorrect information on the web.
What are some great places to start looking for the best information out there?
Webquests!
According to Bernie Dodge, the webquest guru, “A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the internet…”
For a lot more from Bernie Dodge, and all kinds of information on Webquests, visit: http://webquest.sdsu.edu/webquest.html
PortaPortal!
“Portaportal is a web based bookmarking utility that lets you store links to your favorite websites online. Now your bookmarks are no longer limited to any one machine.”
Visit www.portaportal.com to view others or to make your own.
Once there, visit guest names “greenstone”, “loomer” and “lblanchette” to see just a few.
TeacherWeb! TeacherWeb is a wonderful place for educators to
create an easy and inexpensive website that can be easily updated and accessed by parents and students.
It’s also a great place for educators to “borrow” information from other educators!

4teachers.org…
Here is a site you don’t want to miss. Just a few of the tools found here are rubric makers, Quizstar to make online quizzes and Notestar, which helps students prepare for research projects http://4teachers.org/
