CAUTION: Avoid moisture to reduce the risko re or electric shock. The DIRECTV USBOFF-AIR TUNER should not be used nearwater (or example, kitchen sink, bathtub,pool, damp basement). Also, never spillliquid on the receiver, and do not place vasesor other vessels containing liquid on top o it.

Ensure proper ventilation the vent slots on the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER must be let uncovered to allow proper airBlocking the airfow to the unit could impair perormance or damage your receiver and other components. Do not stack electronic components or other objects on top of the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER. Also, do not stack the rehot component such as an audio power amplier. Protect your components from power surges by connecting all the components before plugging any power cords into the waa surge protector is also recommended. Dont overload power outlets or extension cords, which can result in the risk of re or shock. Its also important to use onlypower source indicated on the marking label or in this manual. Avoid audio hum or interference by inserting all cable plugs rmly into their jacks. Also, place Audio/Video (A/V) cables to th

Always unplug your DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER beore moving it. Always unplug the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER, DIRECTV Receiver, TV and other equipment beore you connect or discocables. The only way to disconnect the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER rom the power supply is to remove the power cord. The DIRAIR TUNER unit must thereore be installed next to the power point which must be easily accessible. CAUTION: Electric Shock never attempt to disassemble the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER yoursel; always take it to a qperson when repair is required. Opening or removing covers may expose dangerous voltage or other risks, and incorrect reacause shock when receiver is subsequently used. Attempted sel-repair may also void your warranty. DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER

Place your DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER on top o orunderneath your DIRECTV Receiver.

Disconnect the power cable from the back of theDIRECTV Receiver.

Connect the USB cable from the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER to the DIRECTV Receiver.

Connect the o-air antenna to the DIRECTV USB

OFF-AIR TUNER. Connect the power cable that comes with the

DIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER to the DIRECTVReceiver.

Connect the power cable that was removed from theDIRECTV Receiver to the DIRECTV USB OFF-AIRTUNER.

3. Select Initial Setup, add your ZIP when requested, selectDone unless you live in a city that can receive locals roma secondary market (e.g. Baltimore can also receiveo-air channels rom Washington D.C.). I you live in acity that has secondary locals, ollow the instructions to

add those locals and at the end select Done. The receiverwill gather the o-air program ino and place it in theProgram Guide. Select Done and press EXIT to return tolive TV or check the signal level o your o-air channelsin the next step.

Antenna Setup

The Guide can display channels received via your off-air antenna. PressSELECT on Initial Setup to populate the list with off-air channels availablein your area. Once complete, select Edit Off-Air Channels to edit the listfor display. To start over (if this receiver moves with you to a new city).select Reset Settings to clear the list of off-air channels, then repeat theinitial setup process.

You may have to adjust your o-air antenna to get the bestsignal. Note that it is possible to have a poor signal on youro-air channels, while having a perect signal on your DIRECTV-delivered satellite channels since these signals are comingrom dierent sources. You may also edit your list o locals to

eliminate undesired channels using the Edit O-Air Channelsscreen.

When you are done with Setup, press GUIDE and goto channel 2 to see i your o-air locals are now in theguide. They will have channel numbers like 2-1, 2-2, 2-3,4-1, 5-1, etc. The name and number box on the let-hand side o the guide will be darker than the satellitedelivered channels. For a channel that has multiple

versions (like channel 2-1, 2-2), the rst is usually (butnot always) HD and the second is SD. However, thereis no hard and ast rule and oten o-air HD channelscarry mostly SD programs. In some markets, localbroadcasters may provide more than two versions oa channel. You may want to edit your choices down bygoing to the Edit O-Air Channels screen as explainedabove.

I you are also receiving DIRECTV-delivered localwill see those channels in the guide as well. We order them with HD at the top, then SD. They wildashes in the channel numbers and the name anbox in the let-hand side o the guide will be the DIRECTV blue.

The HD channel will have the 4-letter call sign ostation (KTLA in this example), while the SD chan

just have a two-letter city abbreviation and a onedigit channel number (LA5 in this example).

You are now ready to view your local o-air chanas you can with any o your DIRECTV-delivered s

channels!NOTE: You must subscribe to HD Access in ordeDIRECTV USB OFF-AIR TUNER to unction.
