It’s that time of year again. The North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild Convention and the education of gospel artists and the coming together of radio, industry personnel and me-dia. TCP Magazine has been supporting the NCGAG since 2006 when Donald Lawrence graced the cover and was doing his finale tour. Recently Mr. Lawrence announced that he was recover-ing from cancer but he is back in the public eye. In 2008 the NCGAG celebrated their 10 year anniversary and we honored our leaders. This year marks 14 years for the organization and the Board and Members are applauded for all of their efforts. We have several members who have experienced health difficulties and I would like to pay tribute to them at this time. Frank “K” and Don Coney are Honorary Board Members whose sickness has not allowed them to actively par-ticipate. Doris Lea-Riley – Spending 30 days not knowing you were in the world was rewarded when you came back to consciousness and found out your son traveled every weekend to be by your side. Doris Diane Jones – You fought your sickness like a soldier and didn’t complain. Pastor David McShaw – Dialysis is no fun but we know the God you serve is a healer. And to any others that may have suffered in silence, I dedicate this issue of TCP Magazine to you.

“Give me one moment in time, when I’m more than I thought I could be…” the words of Whitney Houston certainly rang true on March 24, 2012, the night Noire Productions, Inc crowned three deserving individuals at the 2012 Mr./Mrs./Ms. Black North Caro-lina USA Competition. The show, dedicated to Houston, opened with a stellar performance by Jasmin Sessoms, Miss Talented Teen USA 2012, with her rendition of, I Will Always Love You.

Gracing the stage with an opening number and introductions to the tune of, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, it was apparent that these eleven contestants were determined to walk away with the Title. The contestants competed in the categories of Fitness, Tal-ent, Evening Wear, Interview and On Stage Question.

Anthony O. Vann, Founder and President of Noire Productions, Inc., says, “This organization is not about the crown, but a com-mitment to serving our communities. The contestants we see tonight hold the same admiration to strengthening the lives of others through the work that they give to the community.”

Throughout the show the audience enjoyed special entertainment by Melissa Oliver, a Gospel Recording Artist, another tribute to Houston by Sandra Dubose-Gibson, the reigning Mrs. Black North Carolina USA 2011 and an original monologue by Pia Jessup, Miss Black North Carolina USA 2012.

And the winners are…Ms. Black North Carolina, 2012-Shaunielle Foster, Mrs. Black North Carolina, 2012-Tiara Joseph and Mr. Black North Carolina 2012-William Dingle.

Mr. Black North Carolina USA 2012, William Dingle says, “It was definitely a different experience for me.” Minister Dingle believes that this opportunity will advance his platform, A King’s Journey, a rites of passage organization that impacts young men in the Greensboro area. “I want to take it to another level and I know the crown will help reach young men that I probably could not reach before. When I won, it was an honor and now I am preparing to travel and inspire young men, who like me, are on a King’s Journey.” Dingle also walked away with the Congeniality and Talent Award.

Shaunielle Foster, crowned, Ms. Black North Carolina USA 2012 and also winning the Peoples Choice Award, is a native of New York now residing in Greensboro, NC indicates, “A positive attitude can really make dreams come true.” As CEO and Founder of Footsteps To Follow, an organization founded to transform our children of today into our future of tomorrow, Ms. Foster’s platform is to promote positive self-esteem among youth throughout communities in North Carolina. She says, “Winning the title will help grow this organization to other parts of the state. The goal of helping one child at a time is my passion.”

“Keep a Stiff Upper Lip Soldier,” demanded the attention of audience members when Second Lieutenant, Tiara Joseph, now joining the ranks of, Mrs. Black North Carolina USA 2012 recited an original monologue depicting her role as a Mother, Wife and Community Leader all while serving her country. She says, “I decided to compete because I would be able to help Soldiers through my platform, Help for the Heroes.” Currently serving as a corporate sponsor for Purple Heart Homes, a Veteran owned and operated organization assisting service connected mobility limited Veterans by remodeling or building new homes, Joseph feels she is the perfect candidate because, “I have a great heart and a strong will for helping others.”

The show concluded with one last tribute to Houston with a show stopping performance by Miss Virginia Talented Teen USA, 2011, India Tyree, singing Houston’s I Have Nothing.

Overall, it was a night filled with emotion, excitement and expectations.

Vann says, “We are just happy to be able to offer this opportunity to African American men and women in North Carolina. This program has no limitations; it has proven to open doors to success.”

Brian Courtney WilsonIn February, MusicWorld Gospel sent out a press release that Brian Court-ney Wilson’s new CD project, So Proud, just released and debuts at #1 on both Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and the Top Christian/Gos-pel Albums chart. So Proud also debuts at #5 on Billboard’s Independent chart and #44 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. How does that happen? Is

he that good, is it the marketing, are the numbers authentic? Most inde-pendent artists are just pushing to get played on radio, any radio. Well,

these and other questions will be addressed and answered at the North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild Convention May 15-19

in Durham, NC. Seasoned artists and industry professionals will share their knowledge in anticipation that attendees will take note and further their musical careers.

When I was approached about Brian Courtney Wilson a few years ago when he first came out, it was hard to capture my attention because I had already fallen in love with the music of Bryan Wilson, who had grown up from the little boy who sang “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” with the Mississippi Chil-dren’s Choir. I love well mannered, talented young men and Bryan fell into that category. Plus with Bil Carpenter pushing him, where was my allegiance? But this new Brian with an “I” had some amazing music where you could hear

at least three songs from one CD playing at any given time. I saw him on stage at The Lamplighter Awards and there was

something about this guy. He was singing, “He’s Already Here”. The track had finished and he continued to sing and reach out to the

audience as if he was doing an alter call instead of the bowing, thank you and good night exit. He made me go, “Hum, there is something about that guy.” Other than the cordial speaking to him at his table after the show, I had or made no contact.

Fast forward to April 2012 and Brian is in town to record on Rejoice in the Word and I’m called to do an interview. My equipment dies

and Brian is kind enough to record and send me info that I need. He is passionate about his fans and followers and wants to keep them in the loop with his new music since he is not currently being played in the immediate area.

The highly-anticipated project features 12 songs. Wilson wrote or col-laborated on most of the songs, and served as co-producer for all of the

tracks on the CD. Other songs on the CD were produced by GRAMMY-nominated and multiple award-winning producer and songwriter Stan Jones, including the second single, “He Still Cares,” currently impacting gospel radio. The message is that even when you’ve had a touch from the Master, you still may go through trials and tribulations. But you must believe that God still cares for you, and He will give you what you need, when you need it, to make it through.

Other songs produced by Jones include “Right Back To You,” a prayer that God will let you be the greatest at whatever it is that he’s calling you to be, but even if you aren’t, whatever you do will be worthy of giving right back to God; “Closer,” a song about faith and endurance that reassures the listener that no matter how things may look, God has not forgotten you and that every promise He made, every plan that he has for you, he’s going to see it through with you, but you’ve got to keep holding on because you’re closer than you think; and “Grab And Hold,” which reminds us that Jesus has everything we need, and that we need to make sure that nothing stops us from grabbing His hand and holding on. The song has what Wilson describes as an “old school church feel” to it that reinforces the meaning of the song.

Amber BullockAmber Bullock, the St. Louis, Missouri native and single mother of two-year old Amya, topped a talented field of singers to win BET’s 2011 Sunday Best crown. Bullock is the second artist to have a CD project released on Mathew Knowles’ Music World Gospel label, under the Sunday Best franchise. She is also co-managed by Music World Artist Management. The Season 4 winner released an EP, Thank You, on December 6, 2011. The CD debuted at #1 on Bill-board’s Top Gospel Albums chart.

Bullock captured the hearts of millions on the #1 rated weekly gospel music competition show, Sunday Best. Over 2 million viewers tuned in to watch the Sunday Best finale. Season 4 ranks as the #1 telecast in BET franchise history and the #1 cable competition show and Sunday’s #1 cable series among blacks in 2011. Thank You features new studio recordings of jazz infused and neo-soul inspired interpretations of some of Bullock’s most memorable songs performed on Sunday Best. The EP is produced by Eric Dawkins for E Flat Entertainment. The first single, Walter Hawkins’ “Thank You Lord,” offers an up-beat soulful rendition of the Hawkins classic. Other songs on the EP include a jazzy solo turn on Kurt Carr’s “For Every Mountain,” where she shows off the runs that she became known for on the Sunday Best competition. She performs a more traditional gospel version of J. Moss’ “We Must Praise.” She offers a contemporary take on Asaph A. Ward and Dorinda Clark Cole’s “If It Had Not Been For the Lord;” a stunning solo performance of Chris Tomlin’s choir favorite, “How Great Is Our God;” a show-stopping jazz interpretation of the Negro spiritual, “A City Called Heaven” and a neo-soul version of Richard Smallwood’s “Secret Place,” the song she performed during the finale of season 4.

Prior to her Sunday Best fame, Bullock was living and working in Dallas, where she had moved to be with her mom. Shortly after moving to Dallas, Bullock and her daughter were in a bad car accident that totaled her car. After another unfortunate incident, Bullock ended up sleeping on the floor in the house of a co-worker who had six children. She was also unable to get Amya into a daycare center. Life had become so difficult for Bullock at that point that she had to send her daughter to live with her father. Once her daughter was with her father, it was difficult to see her regularly without a car, which made her life even more challenging. Praying for a blessing, Bullock decided to attend the last day of Sunday Best auditions at the Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas. Near the end of the day, word had spread among the staff and other contestants that the lady with the “Red Feather Earrings” had the “most amazing voice and the slickest runs.” Bullock recalls praying “Lord, let your will be done.” The rest is history.

During her earlier career, Bullock performed with a variety of recording artists, professional choirs and ensembles. She sang with Myron Butler & Levi, Troy Sneed and Youth for Christ, Meaghan Williams, and Oscar Williams. She performed with Perfected Praise in a Christmas theatre production in Italy. She also was a member of the gospel choir Changed, under the direction of Sean Tillery, based in Baltimore, MD.

Bullock currently is a member of Fresh Anointing Prosperity Ministries, in St. Louis, where Michael A. Lampkin is Senior Pas-tor. She attended Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, where she studied classical vocal performance. As a member of the Oakwood University Aeolians, a concert choir, she traveled throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean.

work and soar successfully. Integrity and ethics are the foundation of the NCGAG and we are in this journey of excellence to work to build bridges and advance careers.

The voice of God is strong and has called us to order. We will heed His leadership and direction on every level to make ours the best Guild in the world.

She has a “bipolar personality”, he has “mood swings,” they are “manic depressive”. So many images come to mind when some-one refers to bipolar illness. However, there is much ignorance about the disease itself. What is often first associated with bipolar illness is someone displaying extreme changes in his emotions - being extreme-ly jovial or euphoric to despairing lows that can even include suicidal ideation. Some of the difficulty of determining whether an individual actually is experiencing bipolar illness is that there are many other problems that can appear in a similar form. For instance substance use, depression, exposure to trauma and anxiety can cause the in-somnia, irritability, low moods and life disruption that bipolar illness can also bring. The prevalence rates of bipolar disorder are similar across ethnic groups, however, African Americans and Latinos are less likely to receive specialty mental health treatment and may be less adherent to treatment regimens than European American patients. Although the exact cause of Bipolar disorder is unknown, it is primarily thought to be a genetically determined disorder and having blood relatives such as a parent or sibling with bipolar disorder increases the risk of developing the illness. Risk factors for experiencing one of the two poles of the illness -mania (highs or irritability) or depression (lows) - include drug or alcohol abuse, periods of high stress, and the onset of illness usually begins in adolescence to mid 20s. If you think a friend or relative shows

signs of bipolar illness, offer your concern. Your support can help break the stigma of fear and shame by accompanying him or her to an appointment with her primary care physician to broach the topic or to his first psychiatric evaluation.

Apostle James A. McDonald was born, November 10, 1951 in Cumberland County where he grew up in the Fayetteville area. He was first introduced to Christ by Apostle R. L. Garner at the age of 9. The majority of his teen years were spent in the church. The teachings he received in his youth remain embedded inside, “What you put in the life of others will come back to you ex-ceedingly, abundantly above what you can ask or think.” James A. McDonald was called into the ministry in October of 1976 and started pastoring Faith Temple in December of 1976. He was ordained in December of 1977 by his father in the Gospel, Bishop J. H. Sherman, of the Church of God in Christ. Apostle McDonald is an over comer and he is a “more than.”

The Lord blessed him from the beginning of his ministry with revival teams; Crusaders for Christ, The Gospel Flames and The Gospel Airplane. One program took place at Holy Mission Secure Holy Church in Fayetteville, NC at 3:00 pm, the third Sunday in October 1988. Apostle McDonald wanted to know what to call this program and he consulted the Lord about this matter. One night in a vision, the Lord gave him the name, The Gospel Airplane. On the first departure, about 20 or 25 souls were saved, one person received the Holy Ghost, 3 souls came back to Christ and 2 were delivered from drugs.

On October 30, 1996, the Lord spoke to Apostle McDonald about starting a new ministry. He obeyed and started Deliverance and Praise Church of Wor-

ship, Inc. “When the Praises go up, and Deliverance comes down, therefore a good Church to Worship.” The church is located at 2118 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Apostle McDonald holds a Doctorate of Divinity from the School of the Word in South Carolina.

On Friday, April 2, 2004 Bishop James A. McDonald D.D was Consecrated and Installed in the Sacred Office of Apostleship, of the Churches of Worship Inc. World Wide. He also received his Doctorate of Sacred Literature presented to him from the School of the Word in South Carolina.

Apostle J.A. McDonald, a man of great wisdom and much knowledge, is forever striving for excellence and perfection. This was evident on December 11, 2005 as he completed further studies at Higher Learn-ing Bible Institute International (Richmond, Virginia) where he received the following degrees: Diploma of Messianic Prophesies; A.P.T. – As-sociate of Practical Theology; B.M.T. - Bachelor of Marriage Therapy; M.P.C. - Master of Pastoral Counseling and D.C.E. - Doctor of Christian Education. He was most recently honored with a certificate of Rabbi (Master Teacher) from the Apostles and The College of Bishops in the Churches of Worship, Inc. World Wide.

Like the gift of Pastor and Teacher, an Apostle is one who could not only personally testify to the risen Christ; but is a miracle worker who bears personal witness to the risen Lord. Apostle McDonald is wor-thy of this honor, not only because he is a personal representative of Christ but also because in bearing witness to Christ and His work, he is the foundation of the church. We have many teachers but not many fathers. Apostle McDonald is not only the father of his three biologi-cal children, (Angel Baldwin, Necee Burns, and the Late Elder James Leak) but he is a father to many.

Co-Pastor Cathy Ray is the daughter of the late Walter and Rena McIver Cox. She is married to Pastor Harrison Ray. They are the Founders and Pastors of God’s Fellowship Christian Center In Broadway where they also reside.

She is not only the Co-Pastor, but an Intercessor, Teacher, Preacher and the Head Administrator for the church. They have two children and one grandchild. She has four brothers and one sister.

She goes beyond the call of duty to minister to others. At the same time being a woman of few words, her words carry weight. That Means If The Truth Hurts, So Be It.

A woman of prayer and praise makes her one of the devils worst nightmares.

Pastor Doris “Diane” Jones grew up in a family of ten children born to the late Dr. Christopher and Thelma Jones, who pastored several churches within the AME Zion Central North Carolina Conference. Doris has two children, James Jr. and Doressia and a foster daughter, Ashley who still lives with the family. Doris has one grandson, Caydan, who is the apple of her eye.

This woman of God has a special calling for helping at risk teen girls. In 2004 Doris opened Thelma’s Residential Facilities where she has fostered sixteen young ladies who are still an active part of her life. Caring for children has always been her passion. Since 1997 hundreds of children from birth to age twelve have come through her child care facilities. Doris is innovative, has owned and operated several successful businesses, has been an active Board mem-ber in a number of organizations and is actively involved in her community.

Doris has worked in ministry all of her life. She loves to minister through song and has served on the praise teams, choirs, and promoted gospel artists. In 2004 Doris took a leap of faith and began the Gift of Life Ministries that allowed her to be placed on the front lines, where her ministry became personal. Doris tapped into feeding the hungry and helping those that are hurting. In 2008 Chris’s House of Refuge was founded and established to help her continue her mission of aiding those in need. Out of this ministry an initiative to feed the homeless grew stronger and “A Lad’s Lunch” was born. This program was a resource for feeding the homeless and nurturing their souls.

In 2011 she opened a transitional home for young offenders released from prison with nowhere to call home and in need of a new start. Doris implemented a lawn care and landscape service to provide employment for these young men.

Doris’ love for music guided her to establish her own studio and production company (P&D Starlight Productions). Doris currently is a member of the North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild Board of Directors. She continues to see the needs of her growing community and the necessity to reach out and help those in need. Doris is a hard worker who is diligent in her random acts of kindness; she is a giver and has a firm belief that with God all things are possible.

Peggy Tatum is President & CEO of The Connection Place, a small business resource center and publisher of TCP Magazine. Peggy’s passion is helping people accomplish their visions and dreams by connecting them with the right resources and encouraging them to reach their God-given potential. TCP Magazine, a gospel publication with a focus on Music, Ministry and Christian Businesses is the tool that allows her clients to achieve exposure on both the local and national level.

Peggy has accomplished incredible professional goals while promoting the well-being of the com-munity and unselfish assistance to other aspiring entrepreneurs in the community. This individual demonstrates a record of advocacy, showing a spirit of sensitivity and awareness, while devoting benevolent and committed service to the Raleigh community at large. Through TCP Magazine, Peggy has touched the national landscape of the gospel industry promoting and advancing the careers of countless gospel artists, clergy members and other industry professionals. From a desire to write, she has made this magazine the premier Christian vehicle of information and accomplishment.

Peggy is the State Secretary for the North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild. She attends New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina under the leadership of Dr. Nathaniel Wood. At New Providence she is the Youth Choir Advisor. She is married to Ted Tatum who is a musician and webmaster for their company and they have three children ages 17, 23 and 37.

PDY Conference 2012 Bring Hundreds to ChristThis year marks the 14th year of the Positive Direc-

tion for Youth Conference. In 2005, TCP Magazine had the pleasure of touring in three states with the Confer-ence – Raleigh, North Carolina; Philadelphia, PA and Jacksonville, Florida. Since that time PDY has contin-ued to make an impact on our youth. For the past few years the Conference returned home to Sanford, North Carolina home of Christian Provision Ministries, the host of the Conference, under the leadership of Bishop Charles and Pastor Patti Mellette.

Over 2,000 attendees were in attendance this year which was less than previous years but the impact was tremendous. The youth not only enjoyed great gos-pel music, but celebrity basketball, Battle of the Bands, bowling, skating and more. Hundreds of youth got saved. Youth leaders left fired up and returned home

with plans to do a PDY after party. This year, the artists that performed for the Conference stayed over and attended church at Christian Provision on Sunday morning. Even though attendance was less at the Conference, PDY has outgrown the location at Lee Senior High School and 2013 is anticipated to be at a new location. Always with the onset of Spring, I am reminded of the prospect of new life. All of a sudden, the days are longer, the sun seems brighter, and the deadness of winter dissipates with the first blossom. Trees that once were barren are now adorned with the most beauti-ful colors that only God could create. Expectancy is in the air as nature shows us possibility in what is new; it’s as if nature itself is inviting us to new life. As with any invitation, there has to be a response. Another thing that is celebrated in the Spring is the death and resurrec-tion of Jesus Christ. Easter is a time where Christians reflect on one man’s decision to say yes.

If someone came up to me and said, “I would like to give you a million dollars. Do you want it?” After establishing that there was no ill-intent or any catch or scheme, I would respond with a resounding yes. That seems like it’s a pretty universally easy yes. How about if you applied to the highest rated university in the world and not only do you get in, but they offer you a full scholarship, including housing and stipend. Again, with no hesitancy, I would say yes. It doesn’t seem like there would be much pain in those decisions, does it? Well, let’s think about it. Becoming a millionaire puts you in a whole new tax bracket and before you know it, the government has told you how to spend the money you thought was yours free of cost. Well how about that full scholarship? The stress of maintaining an adequate grade point average (i.e. pulling all-nighters, sacrificing social activities, etc.) would make you wonder if the money was worth it.

Let’s take a look at Jesus’ “yes.” God came down in man form to live the perfect life that we should have lived, yet died the death we should have died in our place. Three days later He rose again declaring victory over death, the only obstacle holding us back, and offering the gift of salvation to those who believe and say yes to Him. In John 17, we see Jesus’ anguish before he is arrested. He is begging, pleading to His Heavenly Father to let this cup pass from Him. How does one see the pain ahead and say yes anyways? He knew He would be beaten beyond recognition. He knew He would be whipped to the point that the flesh was torn from His body. He knew people would scorn Him, spit on Him, take His clothes, humbling Him to the lowest possible position He could be. He knew His friends would betray and reject Him. He knew all of this, and still said “yes.”

In that moment, Jesus gave us an invitation. With His death and resurrection, He offers us the possibility of new life. What does that new life look like? Is it free of pain? No. Is it free of conflict? No. Does your life get easier after you say “yes” to Jesus? I answer with a resounding NO! Then why should we say yes? One of the most profound things about God is He works in the opposite way that we think He should work. For Him, the way to gain patience is to let us go through situations and not immediately answer or deliver us from them. Longsuffering begets patience. For God, death comes BEFORE life. We understand it as we’re born, we live, we die. No, for God, you have to die in order to live. Look at Spring. There would not be this beauty if there wasn’t first a winter. The trees had to die in order to live. There is pain in saying yes, but there is death in saying no. Say yes to life, say yes to God.

“Delayed, but not denied.” Those were the words spoken to Victoria almost a year ago as she sat down after singing Vanessa Bell Armstrong’s song “Help” in a showcase sponsored by DMP Promo-tions. At the time, she needed to hear that Word because so many areas in her life seemed to be on delay, and in her mind she thought not only had she been delayed but she had also been denied. When she was announced the winner, she was shocked and excited and that win produced her first single, “It’s Amazing.” Written by Victoria and produced by William Oatman, the single was released March 13th on iTunes and Amazon.com. “I was so excited about seeing myself on iTunes that I took a picture and posted it on my FB page,” she laughed.

Thankful that God spoke to a friend and told her that she was to make sure Victoria was in the showcase; she has embraced this blessing and is determined to fulfill her promise to God that she would use her gift for His glory. At an early age, she recognized that mu-sic was powerful and Gospel music could evoke emotions that you couldn’t feel in any other music. “I come from a family rooted in gospel music. Gospel music was always being played in our house. I remem-ber listening to the Hawkins, Myrna Summers, James Cleveland and

various quartet groups. Music at church was also important. Our father and mother were choir directors and my mother still plays the piano at our home church,” says Victoria.

A former high school English teacher and administrator with Washington County Public Schools in Plymouth, NC, she looks forward to the new journey that she has embarked upon. “There is so much that I am learning and I am looking forward to where this journey takes me. In a short time, I have learned so much about myself that God needed me to see so that I could be effective in my ministry,” claims Victoria.

With her first single under her belt, she is looking forward to the release of her first project in May 2012. The work has yet to be titled but she is currently in the studio working hard and enjoying every minute. “My desire is to fulfill my purpose. I am no longer burying my talent. I want God to multiply it. To whom much is given, much is required and I’m in this for the long haul. I know that my prayers are answered. I just have to remain faithful and hold fast to His promises.”

Living Today © By Adrienne Miller Founder, Life’s Food For Thought sm ©In the midst of hardship it’s hard for us to see beyond where we’re at, to where we could be just seconds…from now. Dur-ing times like these it’s easy for us to remain in the moment of tragedy and turmoil, not remembering a time when our lives seemed better or to a time ahead when they could be. Perhaps to a time when focusing on money didn’t occupy so much of our thinking and living.

Easy you might say, if “you’ve got it;” money that is. Actually, I was thinking of—now. A time now where we can enjoy life be-cause we were healthy, and we have our families close. A time when buying that next thing doesn’t top off our to-do lists, and being the first person at the mall when it opens doesn’t seem so important. Many people wonder if God has a list. It’s hard for us to imagine with all we have heard about Him that all of us wouldn’t be on it; except for you know, “the really bad people.” But the fact is God has everyone on His list. And when things pile up, and “we think we can’t take it anymore,” and we wonder why He “just doesn’t do something?”…He is there. God is giving us His full attention even when the circumstances before us don’t seem to change. All of us have waited for something. That’s a universal. But doubt, doesn’t have to be.

I am not God. Gladly so! If I was I would have trouble holding my temper when I see injustice and wrong doing. I think there are a number of people and corporations out there “who need to ‘get what is coming to them’ and they need it, right now!” God is not asking us to think and act like Him; that’s His job. He is just asking us to believe in Him and His plan. And when we don’t understand why things seem so horribly wrong and so out of sync; He just wants us to know and believe that He is in control. That He cares for us and we should trust Him. No one said that asking “why?” isn’t allowed. But when our “why’s” become bigger than our holding on, we fear failing into the divide of doubt. “Why?” is just a place to start.

My list is my now. Not that I don’t have an eye to the future, it’s just that I am letting it come when it gets here, not staring out the window waiting for its arrival. Women In Ministry Explosion 2012On April 20 and 21st WIM (Women In Ministry) of Fayetteville, NC held their Ex-

plosion 2012 at the Crown Coliseum, where classes for Pastor’s Wives/First Ladies, Married, Single and Jr. women in Ministry were held.

WIM International is the vision of its founder, First Lady Barbara Lockett, District Missionary of the Greater Piedmont District of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). WIM is a non-profit organization that utilizes many resources which provides encour-agement and training to equip women to successfully impact their homes, communi-

ties and work places in a positive way.

This year’s program was hosted by the Fayetteville Chapter Founder, First Lady Linda Allen of Word of God Christian Center which is located in Fay-

etteville, NC. Lady Allen also founded the “Warring Women of Excellence,” (WWOE).

The 2012 WIM explosion featured leading ladies in the community and offered seminars and workshops to assist them with their minis-

tries. The explosion also featured a leading lady award, whereby churches nominated their first lady and recognized the awesome contributions and the works she does behind the scenes to help build the house of God and strengthen the ministry. Special guest included Prophetess Janet Floyd of New Beginnings Worship Cen-ter in Monroe, LA and WIM founder, First Lady Barbara Lockett. Other dynamic speakers and teachers gave direction, encourage-ment and insight to challenges a leading woman in ministry may encounter.

The grand finale was a benefit concert gala for the Save the Babies Charity featuring National Gospel recording artist, Vickie Yohe. Mrs. Yohe ministered wonderfully in song. In the midst of her ministry, she bluntly stopped and gave word that “someone is expecting something from God and it’s about to happen now.” She asked everyone with a cell phone to pull them out and to call someone that needed God to do something for them im-mediately. She then asked everyone to bring their cell phones to her and one at a time she spoke into the lives of those on the phone. It was truly a moving experience.

The benefit gala was also held to raise funds for another non-profit group called Save the Babies House of Refuge which is a place where young, homeless, pregnant women and teens that are in crisis come to find refuge, counseling, and education. The House of Refuge is located in Fayetteville, NC and is more than just a place for women in crisis to stay for a while. House Parents provide emotional support and a family environment. A professional director and social worker provide counseling to the residents to help them make positive life decisions about their future and their baby’s future. They also offer a way for the moms to continue their education with vocational training, GED classes, and college. Doctors and nurses are available for the care of mom and baby and many other programs are also offered to help the women get back to where God has destined them to be.
