FAMILY INVOICES

With only two weeks of school for this year remaining, it would be

appreciated if all family accounts could be paid.

2020 STUDENT CHARGES

At last month’s School Council meeting, School Council set the charges for students for 2020 at

$300.

Eligible families may be able to apply for CSEF which covers the cost of ex/incursions. Families

will be required to pay for camps and other activities which are optional and applicable to

individual students. 3/4 and 5/6 Camps are expected to cost approximately $330 per student.

Families are most welcome to pay by instalments. Please make arrangements with the school

office.

In 2020, families are required to purchase their own stationery

requirements for their child/ren from whichever supplier they prefer eg:

Officeworks, Big W, Kmart, newsagents. Booklists will be given to students

early next week. Whilst particular brands may be recommended, the

choice is yours to make.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS

Raffle books for our Christmas raffle have been sent home with your child.

We would be most appreciative if you are able to sell these and return

money and books by 12 December. Prizes will be drawn at the end of

year concert.

We would also be most grateful for donations of items for prizes such as non perishable food

items, Christmas items (decorations, cards, wrapping paper, activity books). Items may be left

at the school office.

2020 Tatura School Band

The 2020 Grade 5 students have been invited to join the school band next year. All of the students had opportunity to hear the band performing and have a turn at their preferred instrument in an session with our band teacher Lindy Tennant this week. If your child is interested in being a part of the school band next year, they must return the mauve Expression of Interest form to school so Lindy can begin preparations for the allocation of instruments. Involvement in the band has associated costs which are outlined in the note. Students are also required to make a commitment to attend lunchtime rehearsals, band events and practise in their own time.

HOW WE TEACH YOUR CHILDREN AT TATURA PRIMARY

The Instructional Model we are sharing with you today is the HITS model. HITS have emerged from the findings of tens of thousands of studies on what has worked in classrooms across Aus-tralia and the world. International experts often rank HITS at the top of strategies that contribute to student learning. The 10 HITS are;

1. Setting goals 2. Structuring lessons 3. Explicit teaching 4. Worked examples 5. Collaborative learning 6. Multiple exposures 7. Questioning 8. Feedback 9. Metacognitive strategies 10. Differentiation

Teachers will use the 10 different HITS throughout every lesson. We set goals to help students learn, we structure les-sons to help students learn best, we offer explicit teaching points so students know what to do, we provide worked ex-amples of what their completed work will look like, we provide students the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers, there are multiple exposures to the same topic, we question and provide feedback to students throughout les-sons to clarify their thinking, we use metacognitive strategies (students thinking about their learning) to help under-stand how they learn and we differentiate our lessons so students are working at their Zone of Proximal Development. This document coincides with our other instructional models and allows teachers to use these strategies throughout

their lessons.

We hope you have enjoyed learning about our new instructional models. If you have any other questions about them,

please ask!
