    A Note from DebraDreaming about your next great summer adventure? Join us this summer and be TickledPink, explore the rainforest, join the Circus of the Night, nd yourself in the high drama ofShakespearean Death Scenes and more (too many adventures to name)!

    Last summer our camps for grades K-3 sold out before camp began this summer we will be

    offering twice as many. Camps for those entering grades K-2 and for grades 2-3 will be offeredwith the same great full day option. This summer our students will be bringing to life Beauty andthe Beast(Junior Intensive) and HAIR (Senior Intensive). Auditions will be held this spring andboth will be performing this summer on the Cargill Stage check our website (childrenstheatre.org) for audition information.

    PM: Splat the CatPoor Splat is so worried about his rst dayat Cat School! His tail twitches all over, andhe does whatever he can to delay. Beforehis mother manages to drag him out of thehouse, he slips his pet mouse, Seymour, intohis lunchbox, guring that at least he'll havea friend on what is sure to be a scary day.When Splat gets to school, his new teacherMrs. Wimpydimple and his new classmatesall make him feel welcome. One cardinalrule that Mrs. Wimpydimple teaches them isthat "cats chase mice." At lunchtime, chaos

    breaks out when Seymour escapes thelunchbox and Splat's classmates do whatcats do. With Seymour's help, Splat canteach his fellow cats a few new tricks andeven save the day. Working together, letsbring Splats adventure to life!Time: 1-3:30pmTuition: $170

    July 8-12AM: Under the RainforestsCanopyToucans, monkeys and butteries. Orchids,vines and venus ytraps. Rainforests arelled with plants and animals that inspireand intrigue.     PM: Goosebumps!Based on the classic series by R.L. Stine,this camp will take the scares off the pageand bring them onto the stage. Studentswill work from the stories Night of the LivingDummy, Stay Out of the BasementandMonster Blood!

    July 15-19AM: Riddle Me ThisWho can create characters, perform withpoise and design scenery like a master? You!

    As we collaboratively create original scenes,we will use riddles to build suspense andcapture the audiences curiosity. Actors willlearn techniques to project their voice andmove with precision and energy so they canshare their work with an audience on the nalcamp day.Time: 9:30-12noonTuition: $170

    PM: Dancing Aesops FablesIn this camp, students will use gesture,movement and dance to explore theenchanted stories of Aesop. Differentelements of dance will be explored in

    conjunction with a different fable each day.Students will read The Tortoise & the Hare aswe investigate the difference between fastand slow movement and as we explore thedifference between bound movement andfree movement we will read The Oak & theReed. Students will also have the opportunityto create and perform dance vignettes basedon Aesops treasured tales.Time: 1-3:30pmTuition: $170

    PM: Here Be DragonsTheatre is a fantastic way to have adventures.In this camp, actors will explore techniquesto help them play the parts of dragons,princesses and other enchanted creatures.Will we venture through forests? Goodnight Goon.Goodnight Martians taking over the moon!Its bedtime in the cold gray tomb with ablack lagoon, and two slimy claws, and acouple of jaws, and a skull and a shoe and apot full of goo. But as these little werewolves

    settle down, in comes the Goon determinedat all costs to run amok and not let anymonster have his/her rest. A beloved classicgets a kind-hearted send-up in this utterlymonsterized parody and others. Workingtogether, we will bring these silly parodies tolife!Time: 9:30-12noonTuition: $170

    June 10-14AM : All Over The Map! TheGeography of MovementIn this camp, we will use our imaginationto travel all over the globe! Studentswill explore the elements of dance whilelearning about geography, maps andecosystems. From the jungle to thedesert to cities and swamps, students willplay games and create dances to reectthe concepts explored. Longitude andlatitude, the compass rose, the layers of therainforest and the water cycle are just a fewof the ideas we will be exploring throughdance. (No dance experience necessary.)Time: 9:30-12noonTuition: $170

    PM: Superheroes and SidekicksSomething is out there! Is it a bird, is it aplane? No, its the superheroes and their trusty

    sidekicks ready to throw on their capes andmasks and work together to defeat their archnemesis making the world a better placealong the way! We will use theatregames to build the skills we need to sharewith the audience all of our magical powers.Time: 1-3:30pmTuition: $170

    June 24-28AM: Choose Your OwnAdventureThis interactive and imaginative camp isbased on the popular book series by EdwardPackard. In this camp students will create a

    story that could have a multitude of outcomesall based on how the audience wants thestory to proceed.Time: 9:30-12noonTuition: $170

    PM: Sorcerer SchoolImagine all of the things that might go wrongas students practice spells to transformobjects and learn to y on brooms. As weplay games to learn acting technique, wewill use our imaginations to develop all theelements of an original story about a younggroup of sorcerers and the problems theyencounter. Young actors will quickly learn

    theatre vocabulary and apply what they'velearned as they collaboratively createdialogue on their feet through improvisation.At our nal camp meeting, we will share thescenes we have created.Time: 1-3:30pmTuition: $170

    Out of Water), The Bippolo Seed(in which ascheming feline leads an innocent duck tomake a bad decision), The Strange Shirt Spot(the inspiration for the bathtub-ring scene inThe Cat in the Hat Comes Back), and more!Working together, we will bring these storiesto life!Time: 9:30-12noonTuition: $170

    August 5-9AM: The Miraculous Journeyof Edward TulaneOnce, in a house on Egypt Street, there liveda china rabbit named Edward Tulane.     one day, he was lost. This wonderful story(by Kate DiCamillo and Bagram Ibatoulline)takes us on an extraordinary journey, from thedepths of the ocean to the net of a sherman,from the top of a garbage heap to the resideof a hobos camp, from the bedside of anailing child to the streets of Memphis.     Extended Care OptionTo make your childs camp experience easier than ever, Childrens Theatre Companyis pleased to offer our convenient Extended Care option to daily camp participants.Through a partnership with the Minneapolis Institute of Ar ts and the MinneapolisCollege of Art and Design, when your child attends a camp at any one of thesefacilities, they are eligible to participate in our Extended Care Program.

    For children entering kindergarten and older, you have the option to a rrive at campbefore check-in or have your child stay after camp has ended. While your child is

    here they will be able to participate in free play and organized activities with ChildrensTheatre Companys celebrated education staff.

    Morning extended care begins at 8am until camp begins at either 9am or9:30am.

    Afternoon extended care begins at 3:30pm and ends at 5:30pm.

    Payment: There are two options for extended care payment allowing greater exibilityfor you!

    Day-By-Day: Pay when you arrive and choose between a Morning orAfternoon Session or both!

    Dance AttireThe more clearly the teacher can see the students body joints, the more easily the teachercan give the student technical feedback. Dressing in layers is a good idea, but wearing a lotof bulky clothing makes it difcult to give feedback. It can be a bit cool in the studio at thebeginning of class and very warm by the end so please shed extra clothing as we go along.

    Hair pulled back and out of face. Jewelry - large and dangling jewelry is distracting and dangerous.

    Please remove it before class.

    Creative Movement:

    Children should wear clothing that is easy to move in and that wont inhibit movement.Sweatpants, shorts and t-shirts work very well. Children are encouraged to dance barefootduring creative movement classes.
