Exit Slip for end of task reflection

Each card has an icon for easy identification of cards within a set.

Teacher Notes:

Scoot can be used as a formative assessment.

Scoot is an awesome game that gives your kids opportunity to move around – it’s a great differentiation tool for your students who need kinesthetic opportunities!

The task cards can be used as independent differentiated learning centers/stations.

Game Set-Up:

Copy and cut cards. The cards can be copied on cardstock and laminated for repeated use but this step is optional.

Put one card on each student desk or designated spot where students will answer one question. It is not necessary to put the questions in order but remind students to check the number on each card and put the answer in the corresponding space on the Student Answer Chart. I like to demonstrate this beforehand.

Give each student one Student Answer Chart – Use the chart with 24 answer spaces for classes with 24 or fewer students. Use the chart with 32 answer spaces for larger classes. You may add or remove cards as needed for the size of your class, or you can use all or part of the cards and play until all students are finished or time runs out.

Tell students the path they will follow to answer all questions. They should know where to move for each successive question. You can draw a diagram for students to refer – I like to practice this with my students before playing for the first time. Make sure there is space to move around in safely and remind your students not to rush between seats. You should give them about 5 seconds after saying “Scoot!” and starting the timer for the next round.

Tell students the amount of time they will have to solve each question. This can be flexible based on the needs of your students.

Remind your students of the “No Touch” rule for the belongings of others as they move from desk to desk.

End of Game Directions:

Have students return to their home desk and put their pencils away. Remind them there is no changing of answers. Review all answers – Have students tell the answer for the question card on their desk while students check their

answers. I like to have students discuss and try to identify reasons for incorrect answers.
