Scouting For Girls - She's So Lovely

Andrew Goodwin said that the star image is a very important part of a music video. They can make the video more appealing to the audience. They can bring a unique style to the music video and the way that the protagonist is portrayed. In this music video we can see that the star image has lots of different shots or her to make her seem important and to show that she is the centre of attention and the main focus in the music video.

These screenshot links to Andrew Goodwin's theory of how the visuals link to what is going on the in the shot. The lyrics at this point in the song are “I love the way she bites her lip. The screenshots above shows a close up of the woman looking directly into the camera and biting her lip. This links to the Male Glaze theory as the woman is being overly sexualised and makes it seem like she is only there for the men to look at.

This shot is used more than once in the video. This shot is used at the start and at the end of the video. This is an example of Goodwin's Amplication theory, this is where shots are repeated throughout the music video. The meaning of the song is added to by the visuals. The song and video are very objectifying to woman.

This shot also links to the Male Glaze theory as we can see a close up of her bum. This suggests that the woman is only in the video to be looked at. This is because the camera focuses on her body and looks rather than anything else. We can also see later on in the video that there are men staring at her when she’s walking. This reinforces the fact that he woman in the video is only there to look at. This shot is objectifying the woman in the shot as they are focused on her butt rather than anything else going on in the shot.
