Theme: Architectural Exploration of Salford Quays

Predicted final outcome

I’m going to be going to Salford Quays to shoot some landscape photos to promote Salford Quays. I will be taking a minimum of 50 photos to then select the best 10, I’ll be taking them all around Salford Quays so I’m going to try and show off the best qualities in the area. I will be taking as many landscape photos as I can trying to show as much of the area off as I can including the main focuses there like the main Media city and the Museum and the several bridges, the water will be one of the main features in the photos because it’s such a huge part of Salford Quays, shooting In the day and night would show it off at its best, a night shoot would show off all the lights and it looks a lot better when all the buildings are lit up.

Reasons for selection of theme (including inspiration from the work of others)

Salford Quays is a popular place and has a lot of things happening there it being one of the main sights for BBC and ITV filming it’s also a nice place to go to it has lots of buildings and nice scenery with all the water and bridges.

I’ve chosen three landscape photographers who’s photos I like and I want my photos to be similar to there’s they are all similar locations to the Salford Quays, I like the way they are edited to bring out the colours and the reflection in the water.

The photo imaging equipment and medium that will be used and why

I have two options with what camera I could use one being the Canon 7D and the other being the Nikon D3100, with the canon 7d I could change the lens and use the depth of field one so I could take pictures and focus on the landmarks around Salford quays also the shutter speed having used this camera more than the other I can work the shutter speed, ISO etc easier. I could use the Nikon D3100 which I could get good quality images from.

Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual message

Making the shutter speed higher I like the effect it gives to a photo especially when it shot at night and there is a road near by which you can take pictures of the road it can show you how popular a place is also when you see the movement of people show the longer you leave the shutter speed open you can see movement of the object by how it leaves a blurry line.Rule of thirds will be a main technique framing the image and making sure the most important and interesting points are framed the way I want them so I can show off the best sights and places at media city.

Location: Salford Quays

Salford Quays is the area near the end of the Manchester ship canal, landmarks includes The Lowry, The Imperial War Museum North and Media City UK.

The places ive chosen to shoot at are mostly on or near bridges they all have a view of a vast space of Salford quays and all have the main/most recognizable sights in shot.
