Task 24: WIND ENERGY AND HYDROGEN INTEGRATION
TECHWINDGRID`09, 20-21 Madrid
OBJECTIVES TASK 24:
To explore in detail all possible issues (Technical, Economical, Social,Environmental, Market and Legal ) related to hydrogen production usingelectrolysis with wind energy.
To explore in detail possible applications for hydrogen produced byelectrolysis using wind energy , with special emphasis on full wind & hydrogenintegration by means of hydrogen storage and electrical conversion that

integration by means of hydrogen storage and electrical conversion thatbalances the original wind energy production, allowing an approach to demandthat closes the gap with conventional energies.
Subtask A: State of the artSubtask B: Needed improvements and system integration
Subtask C: Business concept developmentSubtask D: Applications. Emphasis on wind energy management
Duration : 2006-2010

PRIOR STEPS
53rd IEA HIA ExCo meeting (Singapore, November 2005) : The interest on starting a new task on “windenergy & hydrogen integration” is endorsed by the ExCo. The Spanish representative takes the lead.
54th IEA HIA ExCo meeting (Lyon, June 2006): Dr. Luis Correas (Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón) andMr. Fernando Tamayo (Gamesa Energía), presented a first draft of the new task.
Project Definition Meeting (Brussels, 4th October 2006): attendance of 15 people from 7 countries. Arevised draft has been released, with a matured work plan proposal. Pending confirmation ofparticipation, especially from electrolyser manufacturers.

Why so Interest in Spain????
P.O. 3.7: Programming of non-dispatchable renewable energy. The Operator of the Electrical System can reduce (curtail) the wind energy produced on behalf of the stability of the grid
No correlation between wind power and consumptions
