This is a conventional portfolio website because it has a limited navigation bar with not many options as apposed to a standard website that has a wide range of options in it’s navigation bar.

It conforms to a conventional layout for other portfolio websites.

Conventions

HousestyleThis website has a consistent Housestyle.

The dark and light coffee browns on the background and border appear on all of the website’s pages.

The font is consistent on each webpage so it is easier for people to navigate around the website and not get lost.

A good consistent Housestyle creates a comfortable atmosphere that is organised and looks professional.

Structure & Navigation

This website doesn’t have a lot of links on it but that is conventional of a portfolio website.

The links this website does have are social networking sites with links to “Twitter” and “Facebook” clearly shown with their well-known logos. Also the creator has a blog and other websites that users can click on.

ConventionsThis isn’t very conventional for a portfolio website because it’s navigation bar has lots of links. A typical portfolio website has less links/options on its navigation bar because the purpose is to showcase work to internet browsers and to not give them activities like quizzes etc, like a normal standard website might do.I think they must have put more links on the navigation bar to make it easier still for the users to navigate around the site without getting lost in a bread crumb trail of links that they would have to back-track to get to the home page.

HousestyleThe Housestyle for this portfolio website is consistent throughout.The dark/burnt oranges are used consistently which makes it look professional.The fonts used in the websites are mainly consistent but not exactly the same. But, this isn’t a big problem because they are all sans serif fonts that have similar characteristics and all match to a style.The over all Housestyle is organised and looks professional.

Structure & Navigation

This website has a lot of links for a portfolio website because of the navigation bar which doesn’t make it as typical in it’s type.

The website’s home page also has a lot of specific links that direct you to specific pages which makes it a lot easier to find what you are looking for quickly.

ConventionsThis website’s layout is not very conventional because the navigation bar is in the top left corner. This is where the logo of a portfolio website normally is but this website is not conforming to a typical layout. The title of the website takes up most of the room on the home page. It’s in the middle of page stating the company’s name. This portfolio website’s layout is not traditional at all because the main image usually goes in the middleOn the other hand the navigation bar is limited in links so that is one conventional feature that the website conforms to.

HousestyleThe houstyle for this portfolio website is consistent throughout.The contrasting colours of the the soft background pastel colours and the bold black text work well together to create an original effect.The overall effect is professional and refreshing.

This website has a conventional portfolio website navigation bar because there are only 5 links compared to a standard website's 8-9 at least.This website's home page has other links to pages like the designer's work/blog etc to make it easier for the user.

HousestyleThe housestyle for this website is a very basic black and white theme that uses text and fonts as a design impact on the webpage which is original but effective. The overall effect is professional looking and effective.

This website's navigation bar is conventional because it has a limited amount of links compared to a standard website.The structure of this website is a basic layout and uses block text to it's advantage because it's in your face as soon as you go on the website which will certainly grab users attention.
