This Month’s Face of Paringa Brian Swinton joined Paringa after trying archery at

a club external event. He started with a recurve bow before taking up the compound bow. Brian has proven himself as the club’s gourmet BBQ expert

at tournaments and the annual Christmas party. You will often see Brian on Saturday mornings

doing his Instructor/DOS duties or around the club house lending a hand.

AST Meeting 28 Aug 2016 1. Multiplicity of membership rates. AST decided to eliminate the pensioner discount in the IMG system from 1Jan17. 3. We’re reminded Ian Bessell has taken on the role of State Recorder from Jill Fenner until the next AGM which will be held just before the State Dinner at the State Championships in Burnie 26Nov16 (I will be o/s). 4. Would anyone from Paringa be willing to take on the AST secretary role? 5. AST decided to allocate $2000 per year to support Club Coaches. Two coaches from Hobart will have their fees paid to attend a Kisik Lee Recurve seminar in Sydney next month. Does Paringa want anyone supported to attend a similar seminar? [I expressed my feeling that we might want to build up expertise in compound archery]. Recipients will be asked to agree to have their name on a reference list for 12 months. 6. The AST website is being updated: a major feature is a large banner photo on the home page – can Paringa supply a similar photo please??? Does anyone from Paringa want editorial access to this revised site? 7. The draft calendar for 2017 should be circulated soon. I put a general suggestion that our championships should be re-named since there are many ‘northern’ and ‘southern’ championships in the AA calendar. How about Tamer, Derwent and Arthur for the regional championships? 8. The Masters Games in NW Tasmania 21-25 October 2017 has now been endorsed by AA. 9. AST resolved to roll out the new OzBow stationery to all Clubs state wide. This will be centrally funded, and has been effective at transitioning people from Come & Try to Membership. Best wishes – Andrew Fluck (Paringa AST Representative)

Working Bees Thanks to Andrew Fluck, Brian Swinton, Michael Woodroffe, Rolfe de la Motte, Richard Barker, Geoff Dyer and Jeff Garner for all their work at the club on Sunday 8th August.

Drain installed at the back of club house and built up dirt removed from against the rear wall.

Started work on the butts but the battery drill gave out. Work in progress …..

When a new member joins AA they receive the ‘Personal Shooting Record” book. This book has space for recording details of your equipment as well as a shooting record (Archers Diary does this for competitions) and awards. Whether you are self-coaching or have a coach it’s a good idea to also get an exercise book to record your progress. This includes things like training, coaching, events shot and equipment changes with the date. This will be your long term memory and help you with improving your performance.
