Beyond mentoring Beginning Teachers, the STEM (Skilful Teaching and Enhanced Mentoring) team also spearheads the sharing on skilful teaching for all teaching staff regularly during the one-hour Staff Connect Time on Wednesday mornings. These sessions focus on areas such as encouraging effective effort amongst students, promoting collaborative learning, checking for understanding, and having clarity in lesson planning and delivery.

The topics are closely aligned with the school’s learning direction to deepen and sharpen the teachers’ instructional practices. During these sessions, the STEM team provides practical tips and tools for teachers, as well as role-models the teaching strategies for their colleagues. Following the session, each staff is given a PD card for quick reference and easy reading. The learning and discussion also continue during the subject-based learning team meetings, thus fostering a common language amongst the staff.
