Tapestry

Carnival: British Seaside This year’s carnival will be taking place on Saturday July 7th. The theme this year is ‘Happy Holidays’, and Oxted Pre-School has chosen to celebrate all that is wonderful about the British Seaside. As in previous years the children will be invited to take part in the parade through town, dressed for the occasion. More details will follow closer to the time, however we would like to try to secure a flat-bed vehicle for our float. If you, or someone you know, has access to such a vehicle and would be willing to help us out please do let us know – [email protected]. Thanks! Craft Fund

Tapestry continues to be a really helpful resource for the teachers to share with parents written and photographic updates of your child’s progress. The first half of the Spring Term has seen perhaps fewer updates than parents might expect. This has been due to extra demands upon the teachers’ time, while we were recruiting our newest members of the Pre-School teaching team. Happily however you should expect to start seeing at least one update per week on Tapestry about your child’s time at the Pre-School.

While we’re pleased that we’re able to support the Government’s scheme for 30 hours of funding, it does put pressure on our finances. The amount we receive from the Government is much lower than our standard rates, which places greater importance on raising funds in other ways.

One of the greatest day-to-day expenses is craft and painting equipment. While every effort is made to source the cheapest possible resources, it still remains important to equip the children with a variety of resources that will challenge and excite them.

To this end we will be introducing a voluntary craft fund contribution of £5 per term, starting from the Summer Term. You will be billed in the same was as is currently done for the fruit fund. We hope you will appreciate the importance of encouraging the children’s creativity, and improving their fine motor skills. The contribution will fund your child’s use of craft resources throughout the term. Thank you in anticipation.

Other Reminders

Non-attendance: Please remember to text or phone the Pre-school first thing in the morning if your child is not going to be able to attend due to illness or for any other reason. As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, we will be obliged to follow up if we do not hear from you. Nappies: If your child is in nappies, please ensure you have plenty of spare nappies, wipes and nappy bags in their bag. Clothing: Your child should come to Pre-school in clothing appropriate for the weather: warm clothes, hats /scarves / gloves, weatherproof coats if it is wet, and warm sturdy shoes or boots for outdoor play. Please ensure you have written your child’s name clearly on the outside of their bag. Please also ensure their name is written somewhere visible on coats, raincoats, hoodies, fleeces, cardigans and jumpers. Lunch: for those staying for lunch, we teach the children about healthy eating – please do not include chocolate, sweets, cakes or biscuits in packed lunches. Please also include the appropriate implements for your child to eat the lunch you have packed (e.g. spoons for yoghurt, forks for pasta).

Thanks for your ongoing support!
