Girls presented were Anna Kate Barnes, Barrie Brennan, Skylar Don- ald, Grace Emery, Cadence Knippers, Katie Kincaid, Audrey Livigni, Lilly Newton, Cam- eron Oglesby, Maya O’Neil, Sarah Pruitt, Camille Bonnecaze, Addie Ducote, Victo- ria Frusha, Mia Mardis, Payton McMul- len, Natalie Leija, Camille Burkett, Pippa Morstead, Elise Venable, Sallie Jayne Snel- lings, Emma Street. Caroline Clary, Sarah Beth Shipp, Katherine Cascio, Sadie Keyes, Princess Ella Rose Smith and Queen Anna Grace Hansen. Returning court were Anna Parker, Helen Johnson, Virginia Deshotel, Princess Ava Dickson, Queen Caroline Gra- ham. A gorgeous evening was had to honor smart, beautiful and service orient- ed young ladies. The evening ended with the popular Baton Rouge band The Revelries. Go Chiefs! Shout out to Barry Rubin, Monroe native. Coach Rubin’s career spans from LSU to NLU/ULM and now Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs. Exciting to see his success!” .... Lais- sez les bons temps rouler” Good times are rolling! Last weekend Sallie Jayne and I attended a talk by Emma Mae Jenkins. Emma is a student at Liber- ty University. She is a faith-based motiva- tional speaker. Emma is known nationally and a very popular influencer on Instagram and Youtube. The platform is “BeLOVED” 1corinithians13_love. The room of 350 filled with all ages; however, the majority of the girls ranged from preteen to young adult college age. The message was encour- aging through trials of online social media, enduring true friendships and the revela- tion of Faith . Emma is adorable and her message will continue to bless audiences. In attendance were Mindy Lancaster, Emery Lancaster, Holly Anderson, Ragan Ander- son, Savannah Green, Madi Dendy, Jo Ellen Lee, Shelby Fortenberry and …..of course her wonderful and proud parents Amanda and Jason Jenkins, along with many other fans. Totally Warriors Gala and Auction took place Saturday night. The famous cover band “The Chee-Weez” played at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. The event commit- tee, Ashley Manning, Rhonda Neal and Lori French, made the event a Flash Black “Marty McFly” could appreciate. Jennifer Sparks, Sandy Dansby, Camille Barham, Dana Target making the most rad fashions. Other “Gnarly” St. Fredrick Warriors, Ra- chel and Jim Loftin, Jodi and Matt Lyle, Susan and Kevin Hopper, Michael Ann and Jott Delcambre, Dr. Mary Kathryn and Da- vid Crigler, Caroline and Alan Brockman, Dr. Carson and Kelly Rutz, Dr. William and Kathryn Barham, Judge Jeff and Kathryn Joyce and many more. The costumes were so much fun. Ghost Busters and Roller Skate girls were the un-official winners. Mardi Gras is rolling into the Twin Cities this weekend. Krewe de Riviere is roaring in “20’s” style. Check out the parade route and Riviere Ball. Grand Marshal is “Guitar Slim Finley” a fan-favorite and finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. The Buzz is the new dance crew! The crews are similar to World Famous 610-Stompers of New Orleans. I know with our creative and talented com- munity the dancers should not disappoint! The Zydeco Beat will continue the fol- lowing week to welcome the 37th Annual Krewe of Janus. “The Magic of Fairy Tales” is the theme. Looking forward to seeing the amazing floats, catching the fun throws and enjoying all tailgating fun! Tailgating Recipe: Gumbo Roux (1 cup cooking Oil/ 1 cup Flour) • Begin with small amount of oil, add small amount flour • Continue to add under mid heat until all flour and oil is mixed (takes about 45 min.) 1 Cup Chopped celery 1 Cup Onion 1 Cup Bell Pepper 2 Pods Garlic ½ cup parsley 1 can Rotel tomatoes Hot 5 Chicken Breast Cooked 1 Package Andouille Sausage A little Kitchen Bouquet Serve with the Best Rice “KenChaux” Top with Chopped Green Onions & Ta- basco “Family Reserve” Make Roux. While hot add celery, onion, bell pepper, garlic, parsley. Sautee’ for 5 minutes. Add chicken, sausage, okra. Then slowly add your favorite stock. See Dianne’s Cooking and Gardening Cookbook for rec- ipe. (or in a time crunch use home made/ or blend organic beef and chicken stock). Check taste for extra spice seasonings of your choice such as salt, pepper, cayenne pepper. Also a favorite trick my friend Wen- dy Gentry taught me was to crack an egg in it. Hey, It’s Lagniappe!
