Guy Garrett joined the Gulf Coast State College faculty in 2010, choosing a career in education as

a capstone to previous work as a journalist, consultant, project manager and technology salesman.

Every lesson builds on a single idea – helping students master the skills needed to capture, access, maintain and secure information. He distills technology’s complexity through clear, concise and concrete storytelling and infuses presentations with enthusiastic energy.

“As a journalist, I wrote about what happened,” he said. “In this role, I co-author the future careers of aspiring technologists. By writing these stories we harness technology’s power and economic promise for the Gulf Coast.”

Professor Garrett leads the College’s Network Services Technology Program with its dual focus on networks and security, advises for both the Information Technology Associate’s degree and the Technology Management Bachelor’s degree programs and sponsors the Technology Club.

His education includes a Master of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of West Florida, Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Publication Management from the University of Georgia’s prestigious Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Guy will be instructing the Security+ Certification Preparation Boot Camp.
