“Highly recommended! We used it this year and it was an excellent book. We earned sweepstakes with straight 1s in sightreading.” Posted by Dennis on 7/12/2010 Texas Band Directors Yellow Board

“When I set out to write this book, I was looking for something that could be self contained and would cover a multitude of issues regarding sight-reading. Material that I found either didn’t cover every-thing that I wanted it to cover or quickly became to difficult for my young band to read. Often books would have more parts than my band would be playing in even with there prepared concert literature. I wanted to have something that would allow the students to start off slow with something that they should be able to read. Then gradually add different components until, hopefully, they were proficient.” -David Herring

10 Rhythm Lines - same principal as level one (Whole Notes, dotted halfs, half notes, and quarter notes) different rhythms.

6 Tunes in the 3 basic keys F, Bb, Eb

#1 Recess in the Boondocks - in the key of F 4/4 I do take into account the increased range of level 2 over level one, and most of the songs should reflect that.

#2 Waltz of the Treetops Key of F 3/4 in this one I focus on the additional ranges in the upper ranges of some of the voices.

#3 The Twobelow Two Step Key Bb 2/4

#4 The Cellar Key of Bb 4/4 Focusing on the lower ranges specifically the ones that are different.

#5 The Peg Legged Herb Key Eb 3/4

#6 On The Edges Key of Eb 2/4 hits both the high and low ranges, specifically those that have changed from level one to two.

Here’s what you will find in just the first three Chapters of Level Two:
