Shield by Panaz® Fabrics:• Utilize silane-based technology that’s been tested and proven to be permanently antimicrobial* to inhibit the growth

How the Antimicrobial Technology Works:

Microbes

Microbe shield technology carries positively charged silane molecules; along with carbon chain spears.

When the microbe cell comes into contact with the treated surface, the microbe shield technology protects the product from deterioration.

QUANTITATIVE ASSESSMENT

• Assess bacterial reduction of Shield by Panaz® fabrics were assessed for bacterial reduction compared to a fabric with no antimicrobial properties

• Antimicrobial Technology was tested for Environmental Leaching.

• Performed using ASTM E2149-10 guidelines.

RESULTS

The study showed that Shield by Panaz® fabrics demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity when tested against fabric with no antimicrobial properties.

A: Shield by Panaz® is a revolutionary fabric line originally developed in the United Kingdom by textile manufacturer Panaz. Shield fabric combines antimicrobial properties with stain resistance, liquid repellence, and easy maintenance. The fabric incorporates microbe shield technology that’s been proven to be permanently antimicrobial.

Q: How are Shield by Panaz® fabrics cleaned? Can I launder them? A: Because Shield by Panaz® fabrics are antimicrobial and repel stains, the need to launder the curtains is eliminated or reduced, saving time and money in maintenance, labor and laundering costs. Recommended cleaning is sponging with a mild soap or detergent solution. Shield by Panaz® fabrics can also be commercially laundered up to 160º F or steam cleaned. Repeated washing does not destroy the inherent properties of Shield fabric if laundered according to manufacturer instructions. Specific washing test data is available upon request.

Q: How does Shield by Panaz® technology work?

A: Shield by Panaz® fabrics form a covalent bond to a silane-based chemical. The patented chemical process uses nano particles to create a permanent bond to the molecular structure of the fibers making the antimicrobial, stain resistant and flame retardant properties integral to the fabric for the life of the product.

Q: What stains will Shield by Panaz® repel?

A: Shield repels most liquids and substances, including blood, betadyne, urine, beverages (water, coffee, soda, etc.) and other oil-based substances (ketchup, mustard, grease, etc.).

Q: How do Shield by Panaz® fabrics offer stain repellence?

A: The polyester is modified with molecular antimicrobial andwater repellent technologies. This allows liquids and substances to bead up on the fabric and simply roll off.

Q: How long does the technology last?

A: The technology lasts for the life of the product if laundered according to manufacturer instructions.

Q: How much do Shield by Panaz® fabrics cost?

A: Shield by Panaz® fabrics are in the mid-level price range. Since the fabrics contain antimicrobial properties to protect the fabric and repel stains, the need to launder curtains is reduced. This will save time as well as drastically lower maintenance and laundering costs.

Q: Does Shield by Panaz® cause allergic reactions?

A: Shield by Panaz® fabrics are not known to cause allergic reactions.
