Development Goals, represent the project
internationally and lead transformative change in
Ireland.
Our Programme Model Our educational
programme is action–
driven and promotes
experiential learning by
supporting the advocates
own initiatives and
projects.
Our network We offer a network to
support, mentor, coach,
learn and collaborate so
advocates can develop
personally and
professionally.
The mission of Development Perspectives is to contribute to lessening poverty, inequality and climate change through transformative education and active global citizenship. The SDG advocate programme helps us achieve this mission. The focus is on poverty, human rights, trade, globalisation, conflict, sustainability, systems thinking, social change and aid. We will engage participants in an experiential learning journey that aims to challenge views, opinions, knowledge and awareness of the world around us.

Project Structure
Our programme is designed around three separate stages
Pre – departure:
Two weekend long workshops (Saturday and Sunday) will be held between April and May
2018. The pre-departure phase will focus on an exploration of the concept and theories
of development as well as examine the Sustainable Development Goals. Comprehensive
preparation for the 2-week overseas study/work placement will be facilitated.
Overseas Phase:
In 2018, we will be working with partners in Tanzania and Vietnam. The overseas phase of
the 2 editions will take place over two weeks between June and July 2018. This phase of
the programme will consist of a practical work project and a continuation of theoretical
workshops. The experiential learning phase provides an opportunity to experience the
lifestyle, culture, political and economical systems of the host community.
Public Engagement phase:
Involves 2 weekend workshops (Saturday and Sunday) and an Exhibition of Experience,
between September and October 2018. The focus will be on becoming active within the
area of development with a view to engaging more people in Ireland and abroad in
development issues. The advocates will work collectively on facilitating an awareness
raising campaign. Eight advocates from Tanzania and Vietnam will have an opportunity to
participate in the final phase in Ireland as part of a reciprocal visit.
