Turkeys also have fantastic hearing! You won’t find external ears on turkeys though. They are small holes behind the eyes that are incredibly powerful in hearing sounds from even a mile away!

A turkey’s wattle can change colors. It is normally a pale pink or bluish gray color, but when it is scared, sick, excited, or angry it can turn red, white, or blue. The wattle also helps to cool the turkey on hot days by releasing excess heat!

Turkeys have amazing vision! With eyes on on each side of the head, they do not have direct vision, but they have the incredible ability to generate a 360 degree field of vision as they turn their heads.

Located on each turkey leg are boney-spikes called spurs. The spurs on males continue to grow after birth and are essential for self defense and establishing dominance from other males.
