Tafsir

Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman as-Sa'di, rahimallahu, explains the previous surah by saying:

Allah states, clarifying the virtue of the Qur'an and its lofty worth:

Similarly to what Allah says:

al Dukhan verse 3

With that Allah had began with his revealing of the Qur'an in the month of

Ramadan, in the night of decree [Qadr]. Allah showers a general mercy upon the servant

in that night. The servant could not be able show gratitude for the bounty of that one

night.

It has been called Laylutul Qadr due to its enormous worth and its merit with Allah,

because within that night Allah decrees what will occur in one year from the appointed

terms [ending], provisions and the distanation [of every living thing] decreed.

Afterwards Allah emphasis its importance and intensifies its significance, Thus Allah

says:

Meaning, for indeed its importance is lofty and its value is tremendous.

Meaning, the equivalency of its merit is a thousand months. Thus, the deed which

occurs within that night is greater than the deeds done in a thousand months.

This is from that which baffles the intellectuals concerning the Qur'an, astonishes the

understanding, the manner in which Allah has bestowed upon this weak nation power.

The power in one night, those deeds within it compounds and multiplies—equaling to a

thousand months. A life time of a man that is long lived—some eighty years.

Meaning, they frequently descend within the night of Qadr...

Meaning, safe and sound from everything wicked and vile; this is due to the abundancy

of good in this night….

(5) Ξ≤•Ω⊃<√≅… Ξ⊗Τς∏π≠Ω∨ υΠςΩš ƒγ∑ ψΗΤΤς∏Ω♠ "…until the appearance of dawn.""…until the appearance of dawn.""…until the appearance of dawn.""…until the appearance of dawn."

Meaning, its starting point, of Layla-tul Qadr, is from the setting of the sun and its

ending is the break of dawn.

Indeed there are numerous narrations regarding its virtue, which indicating that the night

of power is in the month Ramadan within the last ten days, specifically the odd nights.

It will remain so [that night] in every year until the establishment of the last hour.

And this why the prophet made 'itikaf, increased in worship in the last ten days of

Ramadan hoping for the reward of the night of Qadr and Allah knows best.
