The club is believed to have been formed in 1892 as John Smith’s FC. It wasn’t until 1923 that the Tadcaster Albion name was adopted. In the early years the club played in the local York League. In 1948 Albion won the York League. They continued competing in the York League during the 1950’s & 60’s.

Tadcaster Albion, in the early days, played home games on the site of the cricket ground on Station Road, before moving to the Ings ground, near to where the present Samuel Smith Brewery Packaging Block now stands. Changing facilities were in the town, at the rear of the Falcon Public House on Chapel Street, and it was a common Saturday afternoon sight to see nets, corner flags, buckets, oranges, players and officials trekking through the town.

Down the years the club has played in several leagues. In early times, Barkston Ash and later still the Yorkshire and Northern Counties East Leagues.

Football continued on the Ings ground until 1960, when the club moved 100 yards up river to its present home at the Park.

In 1973 the club joined the Yorkshire League Division 3 and were promoted in 1975 & 1977 to reach Division 1, relegation was to follow in 1979 & 1980.

In 1982-83 they became a founding member of the Northern Counties East League, originally in the NCEL Division Two North before league reorganisations led them to Division One in 1991. They rarely finish in the top half of the league in the 1990’s and finished bottom in 2001-2 & 2003-4.

At the start of 2004-5, Jim Collis became manager and at this point fortunes on the

pitch started to improve dramatically. In his first season, Albion finished 5th in the league, the following year a 3rd place finish meant promotion was missed by one point.

Jimmy Reid took over as manager in 2006, but his time was blighted by off the field problems. An attempted hostile takeover by dissident committee members took a massive amount of money to fight. Then in Novem-ber 2007, an attempted arson attack on the clubhouse caused a lot of damage.

Paul Marshall took over at the start of 2008-9, in his first season he played mostly local players and the team struggled and finished 17th. In 2009-10, with an influx of a few new key players, Albion won the NCEL Division One title.

In 2010, Rob Northfield, took over as Chairman of Tadcaster Albion (2010) Ltd, and the club became a company limited by guarantee.

Albion finished fourth in their first season in the NCEL Premier Division and won the NCEL President’s Cup, beating Farsley AFC 5-1 in the final. That was followed by an 8th place finish and last season they finished 6th.

Rob Northfield resigned a few days before the start of this season and i2i Sports Ltd agreed to take effective control of the club and company, with Matthew Gore becoming the new Chairman. In i2i’s first season in charge, the club narrowly missed out on promotion having gone on a 25-game unbeaten run which led to them being named Robbie Savage’s “non-league team of the day” on Radio Five Live.

Welcome to today’s FA Cup match against Barnoldswick Town. We’re very much looking forward to what is sure to be an exciting cup game. A big welcome to everyone who has travelled over from Lancashire.Barnoldswick Town play in the North West Counties League Premier Division where they finished in 16th place last season. Barnoldswick have lost their three opening matches this season, but we will be taking nothing for granted. The FA Cup is a break from the league which has come at a good time for them, so we are fully prepared to face a back-lash from the players. Both teams will be desperate to face Spennymoor Town in the preliminary round on August 30th.

The FA Cup is football’s greatest domestic cup competition, and represents a fantastic opportunity for semi-professional clubs like ourselves to make a name for ourselves whilst also boosting revenue. We all remember the excitement ahead of 2012’s 3rd round qualifying match with Conference North side Boston United. This is definitely something we’d love to repeat, and we’re certainly focused on making this dream a reality. We were very pleased with the 4-2 win over Nostell Miners Welfare on Tuesday night. It was great to get three points on the board, and we’re already looking forward to our next league game against Glasshoughton Welfare next Saturday. Please come along and support us if you can.In other news, the i2i Sports football courses have been going well. We’ve had some good attendances, and we were delighted to welcome many of the TAFC juniors on Wednesday. We’ve had some very positive feedback, and will be looking to run similar courses in future school holidays. Our final course takes place on Tuesday August 26th to Thursday August 28th, so please spread the word amongst families with any future TAFC stars. And finally, congratulations to TAFC’s kit man Junior Leslie who got married to his wife Jo earlier this month. Everyone at the club is delighted for you, and we hope you had a fantastic day.Enjoy this afternoon’s game and fingers crossed we can start an exciting cup run. KindersIs about introducing kids to football in safe environment & giving them the basic skills to allow them to progress into the U7 teams. They train on a Saturday morning at Riverside school, new players are always welcome, come down & give it a go !

With over 25 registered players the U9s section continues to go from strength to strength. In fact they have been so successful that the age group is split into two sections, Juniors & Colts, with both sections usually able to field two teams on a match day. Run by FA Licensed coaches and assisted by parents the emphasis is on developing and improving players in a safe and fun environment. The

This is the second season the U8s have been together and are doing really well. The current amount of support we get from parents is second to none, they are always there to lend a hand when needed. The U8s are always seeking new players, if you know

Club HistoryBarnoldswick Town FC

Formed in 1972 and named Barnoldswick United (1972), - so called due to being canny Yorkshiremen - had there had been a previous club named Barnoldswick United and they had outstanding debts the new club would have been liable for them.

The field started out as a grazing meadow for cattle, after a lot of hard work, it is now the pitch we play on. The club had 2 teams playing in the Craven & District Football League in the early 1990’s we joined the East Lanca-shire Football League again with 2 teams.

The 2003/2004 season brought the amalgamation of Barnoldswick United (1972), Barnoldswick Park Rovers and Salterforth Jun-iors and we changed our name to Barnoldswick Town Football Club.

We then ran 3 senior teams. In the late 1990’s our 1st and 2nd teams joined The West Lanca-shire Football League, our 3rds staying in The East Lancashire Football League.

It has always been in the club’s constitution to get our ground up to the minimum standards of The North West Counties Foot-ball League and the 2009/2010 season saw us accepted into The North West Counties Foot-ball League, for our 1st and 2nd teams.

We have 2 pitches one being floodlit plus a floodlit training pitch. Our club house can hold up to 120 people and can be hired out for functions. Our main sponsor is Silentnight Beds Ltd and the ground is named The Silentnight Beds Stadium.

For the 2013/2014 season we will have 12 junior teams, 3 entering

the East Lancashire Alliance and the remaining 9 in the North Val-ley League.

In 2009/2010 our first season in The NWCFL saw us finish Run-ners up in Division 1 and finalists in the prestigious West Riding County Cup beating Guiseley who won promotion to the Confer-ence North along the way. It was an interesting season as we only expected to hold our own and try to make sure we didn’t end up at the bottom of the league.

Following on from our success in the 2009/10 season we went from just looking to avoid relegation in the Premier Division 2010/11 to astound ourselves by finishing a creditable 7th in the league, only suspensions and injuries we feel robbed us of a top three spot.

The 2012/2013 season saw us finish 9th in the Premier Division and reaching a round further in The FA Vase. Our Reserves finishing 4th in their respective league, with players being se-lected for the first team squad showing we have strength and depth in the club.

In March 2012 we achieved The FA Grade E. enabling the club to enter The Evostick League when finishing in a promotion position.

The 2013/14 season was a little bit traumatic for the club, players leaving or not being available, un-rest in the dressing room which led to poor performances on the field. The club parted with man-ager Paul Fildes replacing him with the current managerial team of Stewart Airdrie and James Gill. Off the field proved challenging as finances started to run a little low and it was a worry that the club may have to pull out of the NWCFL. However a rescue pack-age was decided upon and Anne

Wolfenden has come in and her business expertise is hopefully putting the club back on track.

In June this year (2014) we achieved Charter Standard.
