Section1:GeneralRules(allsports)

A)PersonalandTeamConduct

1.Participantsarerequiredtorepresentthemselvesandtheirrespectiveschoolswithrespectanddignity.2.Anyteamorindividualinvolvedindestructiveornegativebehaviorat

Post-SecondaryGames2011eventsorvenues,includinghotelsand

accommodations,willbeejectedfromthetournamentatthediscretionof

theAdvisoryCommittee.SpiritDepositsmayalsobeforfeited.

3.ThePSGCommitteereservestherighttodisqualifyanyteambasedonthebehaviorofanygiventeammemberofthatparticularteam.

4.Alcohol,smokingand/orotherbannedsubstancesarePROHIBITEDandarenottobeconsumedorusedinthedressingroomsoranywhereinthe

gymsorsurroundingareas.Failuretocomplywiththisrulewillresultintheexpulsionoftheplayer(s)fromtheTournamentandpossible

suspensionoftheteam(s).Arefereemayejectaplayer/teamif,athis/her

discretion,he/shedeemstheplayer/teamtobeundertheinfluenceof

alcoholorillegalsubstances.

B)StartingoftheGame

1.Arepresentativefromeachteam(coach/captain)isrequiredtocheck-inatthescoretablepriortoeachgame.Heretheymustfilloutgameroster

sheetsfullyandaccurately.

2.Itisrecommendedthatbothteamsbedressedandreadytoplay10minutesbeforethescheduledstartoftheirgame.Allgamesstartatthe

timepublishedintheschedule.

3.Alateteamwillbegivenagraceperiodoffive(5)minutespastthescheduledstarttime,whichwillbedeductedfromthetotalplayingtime.

4.Anyteamwithouttherequirednumberofplayerswithin5minutesofthescheduledtimewilldefaultthatgame.Ifanyteammemberisindoubt

abouttheireligibility,theyshouldspeakwiththeirteamcaptain/coach,

theScorekeeper,oranyoneonthePSGcommitteeimmediately.

5.Ifbothteamsarelate,bothwilldefaultandnopointswillbeawarded.6.TeamsdefaultingagameforanyreasonwillhavehalftheirSpiritDeposit

forfeited.

7.Ifplayers,teamofficials,gametimekeeper,etc.showupforagameinaconditionwhichintherefereesopinion,renderthemunabletotakepart,

therefereemaydefaultthegame.

8.Withrespecttodangerousplayingconditions,thedecisionofwhethertobeginorcontinueagameissolelythedecisionofthereferees.The

Commissionaireshallrescheduleagamepostponedforanyreasonattheearliestpossibletimepriortotheendoftheroundrobin.Ifmorethanone

halfremainstobeplayed,thentheentiregameshallbereplayed.Ifless

thanonefullperiodremainstobeplayed,thenonlytheunfinished

portionofthegameshallbeplayed.

C)CoachesandCaptains

1.EachteammusthaveadesignatedTeamCaptainand/orCoach.2.ItistheresponsibilityofeachTeamCaptain/Coachtoensurethatall

playersoftheirteamarefullyeligibletoparticipate.

3.EachteammustidentifytheirTeamCaptainand/orCoachatthebeginningofeachgame.Ifthecaptainisnotpresent,theteamwill

nominateaplayertobeactingcaptainforthatgame.Thispersonwilltake

onalldutiesandresponsibilitiesastheactualcaptain.Thispersonwillbe

identifiedastheactingcaptainonthescoresheet.

4.ONLYTHECAPTAIN/COACHshouldbespeakingwiththerefereesduringthegametime.Playerswhowishtodiscussanyissuewitharefereemust

asktheCaptainorCoachtospeakontheirbehalf.

5.ItistheresponsibilityofeachTeamCaptain/Coachtofilloutthegamerostersheetfullybeforeeachgameandsignittoaffirmtheeligibilityand

informationofeachplayerontheroster.

6.TeamCaptainsandCoachareexpectedtoknowandunderstandthegeneralandspecificrulesfortheirsport.Theymustabidebythem,and

ensurethattheirteamisawareofthemandtheirconsequences.Ifthereis

anyconfusionregardingtherules,pleasecontactthePSGcommittee.

7.ItistheTeamCaptain'sandCoachsdutytoknowhis/herdutiesandresponsibilitiesbeforethegamebegins.

8.AnindividualplayerwillassumetheresponsibilitiesofTeamCaptainforindividualsportssuchasSquashandTableTennis.Thereareno

gamesheetsforthesesports.

B)GameLengths

1.Acapof30minuteswillbesetforeachmatch.2.Eachmatchwillconsistofthebesttwooutofthreegameswitheachgamebeingplayedto21(winby2).

C)Gameplay

1.Arallypointsystemwillbeused.Standardtabletennisrulesapply.2.Ifaplayerservesorreceivesoutofturn,playshallbeinterruptedbythe

umpireassoonastheerrorisdiscoveredandshallresumewiththose

playersservingandreceivingwhoshouldbeserverandreceiver

respectivelyatthescorethathasbeenreached,accordingtothesequence

establishedatthebeginningofthematchand,indoubles,totheorderof

servingchosenbythepairhavingtherighttoservefirstinthegameduringwhichtheerrorisdiscovered.

D)Service

1.Todecidewhichplayerwillservefirst,theballwillbehiddenbytheumpireinonehandandoneplayerwillbeaskedtoguessastowhich

handistheballin.Thewinnerofthiscan:

-electtoservefirst

-makehisopponentservefirst

-decidewhichendofthetablehepreferstoplayfirst.

2.Ifthewinnerchoosesaparticularendofthetable,hisopponentthenhasthechoiceofwhethertoservefirstortomakehisopponentservefirst.

3.Ifthewinnerchoosestoservefirst,hisopponentthenhasthechoiceofwhichendofthetablehepreferstoplayatfirst.

4.Serviceshallstartwiththeballrestingfreelyontheopenpalmoftheserver'sstationaryfreehand.

5.Theservershallthenprojecttheballnearverticallyupwards,withoutimpartingspin,sothatitrisesatleast16cmafterleavingthepalmofthe

freehandandthenfallswithouttouchinganythingbeforebeingstruck.

6.Astheballisfallingtheservershallstrikeitsothatittouchesfirsthiscourtandthen,afterpassingoveroraroundthenetassembly,touches

directlythereceiver'scourt;indoubles,theballshalltouchsuccessively

therighthalfcourtofserverandreceiver.

7.Fromthestartofserviceuntilitisstruck,theballshallbeabovetheleveloftheplayingsurfaceandbehindtheserver'sendline,anditshallnotbehiddenfromthereceiverbytheserverorhisdoublespartnerorby

anythingtheywearorcarry.

8.Assoonastheballhasbeenprojected,theserversfreearmandhandshallberemovedfromthespacebetweentheballandthenet.

9.Thespacebetweentheballandthenetisdefinedbytheball,thenetanditsindefiniteupwardextension.

10.Itistheresponsibilityoftheplayertoservesothattheumpireortheassistantumpirecanbesatisfiedthathecomplieswiththerequirements

ofthelaw,andeithermaydecidethataserviceisincorrect.

11.Ifeithertheumpireortheassistantumpireisnotsureaboutthelegalityofaservicehemay,onthefirstoccasioninamatch,interruptplayand

warntheserver;butanysubsequentservicebythatplayerorhisdoubles

partnerwhichisnotclearlylegalshallbeconsideredincorrect.

12.Exceptionally,theumpiremayrelaxtherequirementsforacorrectservicewhereheissatisfiedthatcomplianceispreventedbyphysical

disability.

E)Deuce

Inthemomentofadeuce,the game shall be won by the first player

subsequently gaining a lead of 2 points.

F)Defaults

1.Ifaplayerfailstoappearoncourtwithinfiveminutespastthescheduledstartofthegame,theywilldefaultthegametotheopposition.

2.Thewinningplayerinadefaultedgamewillbegiven2pointsanda2-0victory.

3.Ifbothteamsendupdefaultingthegame,nopointswillbeawarded.4.DefaultsandSuspensionsmayresultinalossofSpiritDeposit.

G)TournamentStandings

1.Inroundrobinplay,standingsshallbedecidedonthefollowingpointsystem:

-Pointswillbeawardedforeverygamewin.(i.e.thewinnerofthebestofthreegamescanobtainamaximumof2points,andalosercanobtaina

maximumof1point.

-Tiesuponenteringplayoffswillbedecidedbylookingattotalgamelosses.

2.Playoffgameswillfollowtheplayoffbracketprovidedandwillbesinglematcheliminationbasedonwhowinsthebestofthreegames.(i.e.same
