Introduction

Land Pride welcomes you to the growing family of newproduct owners.

This saw has been designed with care and built by skilledworkers using quality materials. Proper assembly, maintenance, and safe operating practices will help youget years of satisfactory use from this saw.

ApplicationThe TreeLiminator is a skid steer mounted 6’ pie shapedblade with saw teeth on each side. As you drive the skidsteer forward, the cutting teeth are forced into the trunkof the tree. The TreeLiminator is ideal for clearingpastures or unwanted trees in a fraction of the timeneeded with a chain saw, and less costly than a dozer.

While other tree saws on the market utilize hydrauliccylinders and other moving parts, our tree saw’s onlymoving part is a “Power Jaw” that acts as a one armedgrapple to help grab trunks and piles of limbs. Easily sawtrees along the fence row, and reach over the fence toremove them with the “Power Jaw”. See “Features andBenefits”, “Section 6” for additional information.

Section 2: Operating Instructions

Transporting the Skid Steer Loaderand TreeLiminator1. Always drive up the loading ramp with the heavy end

uphill.

2. Once loaded, lower the saw to the floor, engage theparking brake, place shift lever into low gear or parkif available, shut engine off and remove switch key.

3. Secure loader and attachments using tie-downs andchains capable of withstanding forces exerted onthem while driving down the road. Use towing vehicleand trailer of adequate capacity.

Operating Checklist1. Be sure all bolts and nuts are tight.

2. Be certain all guards and shields are in place andsecure.

! WARNINGExtreme caution must be observed when removing trees thatare near or could come into contact with high voltage powerlines or fatality or serious injury may occur!

! WARNINGDo not operate the saw without the Tree Guard in place.

! CAUTIONA hard hat, safety glasses and work gloves should be worn atall times!

! CAUTIONAlways be aware of people, livestock, well heads, gas mains orother potential ground hazards in your immediate work area!

! CAUTIONDo not attempt to remove trees that exceed 30” in diameter!

! CAUTIONWhen transporting trees in the power jaw, keep load balancedand as low to the ground as possible!

! CAUTIONKeep bystanders at least 20 feet away when operating!

! CAUTIONAlways adhere to all Skid Steer manufacturer’s operating andsafety instructions!

Operating Instructions

! WARNINGCutting a tree with a cut that is horizontal to the ground ismore difficult to control than one cut by hand. Be aware ofwhich way the cut tree is going to fall. If a tree starts to falltowards you, the shortest path out of the way is to pivot 90degrees away from the tree and to the side.

! WARNINGThe falling tree’s path can change due to branches deflectingoff of surrounding trees and/or by rolling, once the branchescome in contact with the ground.

! WARNINGBe alert for falling branches.

Start skid steer loader with steering levers and hydrauliccontrols in neutral.

Move steering lever controls smoothly. Hydrostatic drivesystems are responsive and the loader will moveimmediately when controls are activated. Do not pullback suddenly on the steering lever controls to stop theloader.

The operator must be proficient in operating the skidsteer loader before he can achieve the expertise neededto get the full benefit and efficiency out of operating theTreeLiminator. Thoroughly familiarize yourself with theoperation of the skid steer loader.

Practice maneuvering the TreeLiminator attached to theskid steer loader in an open area. Raise it high in the airand tilt it up and down. Practice lowering theTreeLiminator from high in the air to the ground whilekeeping it level. Once you are comfortable operating theskid steer loader with the TreeLiminator attached, youare ready to saw a tree down.

Position the saw blade point on the side of the tree youwant to cut on. The fact that the saw gets wider as youdrive forward forcing the saw to enter the tree may beenough to initiate a sawing action. If this is not the case, force the saw teeth into the tree by slightly steeringtowards the tree.

The sawing action is done as you drive forward. Aftereach forward pass, reverse, reposition if needed, anddrive forward again. Keep repeating this procedure untilthe tree is completely cut through. Some trees may beeasier to cut by going at it from both sides.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT drop the saw. The sawshould be lower slowly to the ground and it must belevel from front to rear and side to side for properperformance.

Section 2: Operating Instructions

Land Pride Table of Contents

! WARNINGWhen cutting a large tree, or one where safety is in question,it is recommended that a cut be made through the tree to thepoint of the tree feeling loose. At this point in the cut, raise theTreeLiminator high enough on the tree to push it in thedirection you want it to fall. The tree likely will fall over, splintering at the base. The remaining stump can then be cutoff at ground level.

After sawing the first couple of trees, stop and check tosee that the saw is adjusted properly.

Activate the hydraulic power jaw with the skid steerhydraulic control. The power jaw can be used to carry ordrag large trees or piles of limbs to a central pile.

MaintenanceSection 3: Maintenance & Lubrication

! CAUTIONBEFORE any maintenance is performed, lower the saw to theground, stop skid steer engine and remove key. DO NOTattempt to make maintenance adjustments while skid steer isrunning.

Proper servicing and adjustment is the key to the long lifeof any implement. With careful and systematicinspection, you can avoid costly maintenance, time andrepair.

Saw Blade SharpeningRefer to Figure 3-1:

! CAUTIONALWAYS wear eye protection and gloves when sharpening theblade.

The best sharpening method is achieved by using a 4” or4 1/2“ hand held grinder. The teeth on the saw blade areshaped to have a relief angle for exposing the front pointfor cutting. The flat 1/2” area on the tooth profile is all thatis necessary to grind. Place grinder wheel flat on this

Short close spaced teeth situated between the two largerteeth are for depth cutting. Sharpening these teeth byholding the grinder flat to the back of tooth and grindingto a point. Do not grind the front side of the tooth.

StorageIt is good practice to clean off all dirt and grease that mayhave accumulated on any moving parts at the end of aworking season and if the saw is not going to be used forseveral days. Also, apply a film of oil along the full lengthof both cutting edges to prevent rusting.

Check the saw blade and power jaw gripper for wear andreplace if necessary.

Inspect the saw for loose, damaged or worn parts andadjust or replace if needed.

Lubricate as noted in “Lubrication Points” on page 11.Apply a light coat of grease to any exposed hydrauliccylinder rod.

Repaint parts where paint is worn or scratched to preventrust.

Store saw in a clean, dry place.
