Safety Notices

NoticeThe player complies with the limit regulation on using connection cables within 3 metres in the EMC directive.

Placement• Please put the player in a ventilated place to avoid heat accumulation in the player.• Do not put the player on soft surfaces such as carpets or bedspreads to avoid blocking the vents.• Do not install the player in a narrow location (such as on a bookshelf).• Do not place the player near heat sources or a location where it will receive direct sunlight.• Do not use the player outdoors, in a vehicle or in a boat.• If the player is carried into a warm location from a cool location, the lens in the player may have

condensation on it. If the player does not function correctly after this occurs, please take the disc out, disconnect the power and set aside for an hour to allow the moisture to evaporate.

• The player should be installed in a horizontal position rather than vertical.• The player should be installed and operated at least 20cm away from your body.• Do not place any heavy or unstable objects on the player.• Do not place any objects other than discs on the disc tray. • When you move the player, please take out any discs, or else they may be damaged.• When you move the player, please disconnect it from the power socket.

Power Supply• As long as the power cord of the player is connected to the wall, the AC power supply is still

connected, even if the power supply is turned off.• If you will not be using the player for a long time, please disconnect the power plug from the wall

socket.• Please unplug by holding the plug. Never pull on the cable.• If the power cable is damaged, do not use the player. Contact the Kogan customer support team.

Adjusting VolumeWhen you listen to any material with low input levels or no audio signals, do not turn the volume up, as youmay hurt your ears or damage the speakers when the volume returns to peak level.

CleaningPlease wipe the shell, panel and remote control with a soft cloth. Do not use sandpaper, polish or any cleaning solutions.

Cleaning discsDo not use cleaning discs or disc cleansers (either wet or spray kinds), as this may damage the player.

Connecting to the HDMI OUT portImproper operation may damage the HDMI out port and the connection. Please follow the instructions below.Check the shape of the port and connector, then align and connect to the HDMI port and HDMI connector in the rear of the unit. Make sure that the connector is not upside-down or inclined.When you move the player, please disconnect the HDMI cable first.When you connect or disconnect the HDMI cable, please hold the HDMI connector firmly. Do not twist or force the HDMI plug into the jack.

Using the Remote Control & Battery

Installing the battery Using remote control

Open the battery cover.

Aim the remote control at the receiver on the panel,then operate.

Insert the 2 x AAA batteries.Ensure you align the +/- polarity of the battery to the markings in the slot.

Put the battery cover back on.

Notes for remote control operation• Do not use the remote control under strong lighting, as the signals may not function or they may

be received incorrectly.• Do not drop the remote control or hit it against other objects.• Do not put the remote control in hot or moist surroundings, or it may oxidise the components and

rust the metal parts quickly.• Do not disassemble the remote control. If there is a problem with the remote, please contact the

Kogan customer service team.• If the remote control isn't effective or the usage range decreases significantly, please replace the

batteries. Do not mix old batteries with new ones.• Check the batteries regularly to ensure they aren't leaking. If you see signs of leakage, please clean

the battery slot before replacing them with new batteries as the metal may erode.• The effective range of the remote control is 7m from the front of the remote.• The effect angle of the remote control is 30° from the front of the remote.

Using Discs

Holding the disc:Do not touch the data/playing side of the disc.Do not stick paper or adhesive tape to the playing side of the disc.

Cleaning the disc:Fingerprints and dirt on the disc surface may affect the audio and video quality. Use a soft cloth to wipe the disc from the centre out to the outside.

Disc storage:If dirt/stains cannot be removed with a dry cloth, then wipe with a wet cloth, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use any solvents such as thinners, alcohol or detergents, as these will damage the disc.Do not place the discs in locations that receive direct sunlight or strong heat.Place the discs securely in their cases when not being used.

About the user manual:This manual describes the basic specifications of the Blu-ray player. Certain Blu-ray discs may have special requirements or limitations that may not be compatible with this player.Over time, the manufacturing of the players may be improved and upgraded. If the operation of the player is different to that described in this manual, please refer to the actual functioning of the player.If the player isn't going to be used for a long period, please put a disc in the tray to avoid affective the performance of the laser head.

Advanced Playing Operations

Screen control menuWith the screen control menu, you can set and select certain playing statuses.While playing, press the [Option] key to show the screen control menu, as shown below.

In the screen control menu, press to select an item, then press [OK] to select and set. The screen control menu contains the following items:

Title [BD-V DVD-V]: display current title and total titles. Press the direction key [ ] to open the title selection bar, select the desired title, then press [OK] to play from the selected title.

Chapter [BD-V DVD-V]: display current chapter and total chapters. Press the direction key [ ] to open the chapter selection bar, select the desired chapter, then press [OK] to play from the selected chapter.

File [VIDEO AUDIO PHOTO]: display current file and total files in current folder. Press the direction key [ ]to open the selection bar, select the desired file, then press [OK] to play from the selected file.

Time [BD-V DVD-V CD VIDEO AUDIO]: displays the playing time of the current title, chapter, disc, track and file. Press the direction key [ ] to open the time bar, then press [ ] [ ] to switch between playing time and remaining time.

Playing mode [CD VIDEO AUDIO PHOTO]: display current playing mode. Press the direction key [ ] to open the selection bar, then switch playing mode between 'Normal', 'Random' and 'Shuffle'.

Audio [BD-V DVD-V]: display the language and audio signal decoding mode of the audio output. Press thedirection key [ ] to open the audio bar, then press [ ] [ ] to switch the audio.

Angle [BD-V DVD-V]: display the current playing angle. Press the direction key [ ] to open the angle bar, then press [ ] [ ] to switch the playing angles.

Subtitle [BD-V DVD-V]: display current caption state. Press the direction key [ ] to open the caption bar, then press [ ] [ ] to switch the caption language.

Subtitle type [VIDEO]: only available during video play; displays current caption state. Press the direction key [ ] to open the caption bar, then press [ ] [ ] to switch the caption language.

Second video [BD-V]: display secondary video state. Press the direction key [ ] to open the selection bar, then press [ ] [ ] to switch to full screen video output, and show secondary video window simultaneously (PIP).

Second audio [BD-V]: display secondary audio state. Press the direction key [ ] to open the selection bar,

then press [ ] [ ] to enable/disable the output of secondary audio.

Bitrate [BD-V DVD-V CD VIDEO AUDIO]: display the bit rate of the video/audio signal.

Instant search [BD-V DVD-V CD VIDEO AUDIO]: go forward 30 seconds and play.

Instant replay [BD-V DVD-V CD VIDEO AUDIO]: go back 10 seconds and play.

Lantern slide [PHOTO]: display the switching speed when playing a photo slideshow. Press [OK] to switch between fast, medium and slow.

Switch [PHOTO]: display the switching effect when playing a photo slideshow. Press [OK] to switch between none, slide left, slide up, slide down, slide right, rectangular shrinking, rectangular enlarging, mixing, dissolving, horizontal interweaving, vertical interweaving, horizontal separation, vertical separation, horizontal division and vertical division.

Note: in the screen control menu, press the [Option] key to hide the screen control menu again.

Using the OSD menuWith the OSD menu, you can check the current playing state. In the playing state, press the [INFO] key to show the OSD menu on the screen.When playing BD-V/DVD-V discs, the menu is as shown below:

BD-LiveFor discs that support BD-Live, access the internet with the player to download any additional trailers, special features and interactive games.

1. Connect to the network.

2. Connect to USB storage according to BUDA settings.

3. Play the discs that support BD-Live; while in the playing state, press the [TITLE] key to show the disc menu, then press the direction keys to navigate to BD-Live, then press [OK] to open the menu.(The network connection may take some time)The popup menu will show on the screen as shown right:

4. In the BD-Live menu, press the direction keys, number keys and the[OK] button to select menu items, download trailers, access specialfeatures, play interactive games and play downloaded content.

Note: the BD-Live function is only available when the player is connected to the network successfully. When connected to the network, it is also limited by network speed.Please follow the instructions on page XX regarding network settings.The available content depends on the BD-Live service provider.

Downloaded content is saved in BUDA specified memory. If the specified memory doesn't have sufficient space, then please select “Format” in “BUDA info” to clear storage space. Previously downloaded content will be lost.When using BD-Live functionality, the user should connect an external USB disc, making sure that the available space is at least 1GB.Select device in System BUDA BUDA setup.→ →When the network is disconnected, play the content saved in the player memory via the steps above.

Media Player – Using Data Discs and USB FilesWith the media player, you can play photo, music and video files saved on data discs and USB devices (including HDD). Depending on the disc type, certain discs cannot be played and certain functions may not be compatible.

Selecting and playing data filesInsert the data disc, or connect a USB device (USB disc, digital camera, memory card reader, MP3 player ormobile hard disk) with a USB cable.Note: before connecting the USB device, press the power button to set the player into standby, then once connected, press the power button to turn it on. Before disconnecting the device, once again set the playerinto standby first, as this will stop the files on the player being damaged.

1. After reading the data disc or USB device (including HDD), the media center menu will display automatically. In stopped media, press the Media Center key to open the media center menu, as shown below.

2. Press the direction keys to select the media that is storing the files that you wish to play and press [OK] to confirm the media selection, as shown below.

3. Press the direction keys to select the type of data file to be played (eg. Picture, music or movie), then press OK, to select the file directory of the selected type, as shown overleaf.

4. Press the direction keys to select the folder of the data files to be played, then press [OK] to open the folder. Press the direction keys to then navigate to the data files to be played and press [OK] tostart them playing.

Note: when playing audio files, the OSD menu will display on the screen.

Special operations when playing picture filesOperations while playing

[Stop]: stop playing images and return to media center[Pause]: pause playing of the slideshow[Play]: start playing the slideshow[Next]: go to next picture [Previous]: go to previous picture : pause playing and convert the picture : pause playing and mirror the picture : pause playing and rotate the picture counter-clockwise : pause playing and rotate the picture clockwise

Editing Play ListsFollow the instructions of 'Selecting and playing data files' as described previously to select files, then press [Title Popup] to display a dialog box where you can select accordingly from below, then press [OK].

• Add to play list: add the selected files to the play list; (selected files have red checkmark boxes next to them)

• Select all: select all files in the current folder; then add all files to the play list;• Clear all: clear all of the options in the current folder;• Cancel: cancel the operation and close the dialog box.

Note: the edited play list will be cleared once the player is turned off. When the disc is removed or the USBdisk is disconnected, the selected files in the media list will disappear from the play list. The maximum number of files in a play list is 100.

Playing the ListAfter the play list has been edited, press the direction key [ ] to return to the root directory of the media center, then press the direction keys [ ] [ ] to select “Playing List”, then press OK to open the data type selection menu.Press the direction keys to select the data type, then press [OK] to open the list of the selected type.In the opened playing list, press the direction keys to select the data files, then press [OK] to play all of the

files in the play list.In the play list, press [Popup Menu] to display a dialog box, which you can select accordingly from the options below, then press [OK].

• Clear from play list: clears the selected file from the play list;• Select all: select all of the files in the current play list;• Clear all: clear all of the files in the current play list;• Clear all: clear all selected files;• Cancel: cancel the operation and close the dialog box.

Note: While playing, press the [Stop] key to stop playing and return to the playing list. At this point, press the direction key [ ] to exit the current playing list.

Network Neighbourhood

DLNA Function and SMBCreate a file share server and DLNA server on your network.This means you can play videos, music and pictures on devices connected to the same network remotely. You only need hardware such as a computer or NAS server, with software acting as DLNA, SMB or CIFS.Turn on “My Internet” in the setup menu, then press the “main menu” button and choose the internet icon to check the lists which can be applied in the server.In some cases, you may need to disable the firewall of the hardware so that the player can visit the server.

The player can share internet access through one of three methods:

1. As a digital media player (DMP): the player can search, visit and extract resources from local mediaservers subjectively, which is equal to DLNA.

2. As a digital media renderer (DMR): the player plays resources pushed from a digital media controller (DMC). In this case, media server with DMC functionality is required. For more information on settings and usage, please check the instruction manuals of the relevant servers.

3. Visiting SMB/CIFS client side: the player can read files shared client side through the network, just like visiting an external USB storage device. Most computers, especially those using the Microsoft Windows OS have got SMB client side already.

Notes:• NAS is a type of network equipment that provides file-based data storage services for other

network devices. These products are widely sold.• SMB (Server Message Block) or CIFS (Common Internet File Systems) are usually named as the

Microsoft Windows Network. Without connecting extra media servers and performing any media format conversions to reduce the processing load, it can maintain the original content quality.

• This media play is designed for compatibility with local network shared hardware and software. Due to the diversity of NAS networks, media servers and configurations, we cannot 100% guarantee that the media player will be completely compatible with your personal setup.

We will use Ark MC Lite as an example to explain how to use DMP and DMR:To start with, you need to ensure that Ark MC Lite is installed to a mobile phone or tablet before opening the software, then connect the phone and the player to the same router.

DMP:

1. Enter into the settings page from the home page of the blu-ray player General Settings Internet→ → DLNA Turn On (see image below) press “Home” key (DLNA setting is on).→ → →

2. After getting into the Network Neighbourhood from the home page, DLNA devices found by the player will display (see image below). You can then browse and play the pictures, videos or music on the devices.

DMR:

1. Turn on DLNA, Home Page General Settings System DMR Turn on (see image below). Press → → → →[Home] key to go back to the home page. (DMR default setting is off).

2. Enable the software on your mobile phone, then access to the device when the servers search the DMS device. Choose files that you want to play, then press the [Play] button. A window will pop-up(as shown in the image below).You can play it on your mobile phone or other devices. If you choose theblu-ray player, then you can play files pushed by the mobile phone on it.

BUDA(For BD-J disc playing)

Last Memory Select to memorise the play status of the disc.ONEnable memory playing. When enabled, the player can memorise the play progress of six discs. When the discs are inserted next time, a dialog box will pop up and ask you whether to start the disc from the start again [Return], or if you would like to resume from the point that you stopped last time [OK].Please note that the memorised times will be lost once the unit has been powered down.OFFDisable this function.

Security Change Password

Select this function and press [OK], and the screen will show thedialog box below.

Enter your current password using the [0-9] keys, then if the password is valid, the following box will appear.

Press [0-9] to enter your new password, then enter it a second time to confirm. The password is now saved.Note: The initial password is 0000.

Wireless setting If the wireless network is selected, it requires configuration.

SearchSearch for available networks in the area and results will be shown on the screen as shown below, that you can select accordingly.

Press the direction keys to select the correct wireless network, the press [OK] and a dialog box will appear for you to enter your password. If the network security is set to “None” and it doesn't require a password, you can press [NEXT] directly. LAN Connection

1. Navigate through the menu to Ethernet.

2. IP Setting: users can choose manual settings or automatic settings.

3. After setting, please select Connect to Test; if successful, will show that the internet connection is OK.

4. If the connection fails, please unplug the network cable, turn off the player, reinsert the cable and then start the player again. The system will begin automatically initialising the network. Follow the 3 steps above to the connection test again.

Wi-Fi Connection

1. Navigate through the menu to Wireless.

3. Select search (see picture 2) and click 'next page'. It will show the wireless networks that have been discovered (see picture 3).

TroubleshootingIf there is any product failure, please check the list below. If you are not sure of the instructions given or theissue cannot be solved, please contact the Kogan customer service team.

It is prohibited for customers to perform repairs on the unit themselves. Doing so will void your warranty.

Problem/Issue Suggested reasons and solutions

No power supply. Please ensure your wall socket has electricity being supplied.Ensure the cord is plugged in firmly.Press the power key on the front of the player to turn it on.

Image is frozen and unit will not accept any instructions.

Turn the unit power off at the wall and unplug the plug for 20 seconds, then plug it in again. Restart the player and resume use.

Auto standby. The default setting of the player: if the unit is not playing any media and no instructions have been received for 5 minutes, then the player will enable the screensaver. If the screensaver has been operating for 10 minutes will no instructions then the player will enter standby mode automatically.You can press the power key on the remote control to restart the player, or navigate to Main Menu General System Screen → → →Saver OFF.→

Remote control won't worknormally.

The remote control isn't being aimed at the receiver correctly. Please aim the remote control at the receiver on the front panel.There may be an obstacle between the remote control and the receiver. If so, please remove it.The remote batteries may be too low. Please replace with new batteries.

Can't play discs. Please make sure that the label of the disc is facing upwards.If the disc is dirty, please clean it.The disc may be empty, or be restricted according to your settings. Please check your area code and parental settings.

Red key appears on screen. The function or operation you are trying to perform cannot occur in the current state. Reasons for this may be:

• Software function limit on some BD/DVD discs.• Certain BD/DVD discs don't support selected functions.• The selected function is invalid in the current mode.

Play mode is different fromthose in the settings.

For certain discs, the settings in the menu may be invalid. Please operate the player according to the disc menu.

No HDMI output. Check that the HDMI connection between the player and the external device is secure.Check that your TV supports 720p/1080i/1080p/1080p24/4K HDMI output resolution, and adjust the output resolution of the player according to the specifications of the player.HDMI always has output, and CVBS only has output at 720P. Therefore certain users cannot watch BD images in CVBS as the output resolution in the setting menu may be too high. Please set the resolution in HDMI state to lower than 720P.

TV has no image. When you are reminded that you need to connect with HDMI or switch the resolution to match the TV then your image should display normally.Please make sure that the TV has been connected to the player through the VIDEO OUT terminal or the HDMI terminal. Please ensure that the TV itself has been set to the correct input

mode to receive the input.

Video output resolution is too low.

Please reset the resolution in Main Menu Display TV and set to → →the video output signal format of the applicable terminal.

Aspect ratio cannot be changed.

The aspect ratio of certain BD/DVD discs is fixed. Please refer to the TV manual to force a change to the aspect ratio if this occurs.

No audio. When all connections are correct and the file being played still hasno audio, then it is possible that the audio format of the file may not be supported by the blu-ray player.Check whether the audio signal connection between the player and the external device is secure, and if not then insert it properly.Please make sure that the audio output is set correctly in Main Menu Audio.→If a power amplifier is connected, please check the ensure that theinput mode of the amplifier is set correctly.

Can't hear desired audio effect.

In Main Menu Audio Speaker set the speaker correctly → →according to the connected device.

Can't switch audio. Due to the difference in disc production, some discs will not contain different audio tracks.

Forgot the parent lock password.

The default password of the parental lock is 0000.

Blu-ray discs can't play PIP. Please check whether the disc supports PIP. Not all blue-ray discs support this function. PIP and secondary audio tracks require disc support. In the settingmenu, select ON and press “Screen Control” while playing.

Can't select audio channel and caption.

The disc doesn't contain the selected audio.Certain discs can't be changed and can only be selected in the disc menu itself.The disc doesn't contain caption information, or captions aren't enabled. Press the [Caption] key to enable.

Support BD-J discs. Certain keys on the remote control are invalid for certain BD-J discs. Eg – selecting with numbers, program, repeat, return, zoom-in and A-B may not be valid.

BD-Live function. The disc must be marked with BD-LIVE, and ensure that the network is connected correctly. Insert a USB stick with adequate storage space.Ensure that the BUDA in the system settings is set to “external”.

Lyric display of MP3. The MP3 file and lyrics must have the same name, and the lyrics must be in LRC format.

No Wi-Fi functionality. Support Wi-Fi with IC MT7601 or Ralink 307X.

How to adjust the area code.

Press [Setup] to enter the main menu interface, then press the number “8520” to enter the area code page.Blue-ray code: adjust the area code of the blu-ray discs and enter “1”, “2” or “4” to select A, B or C.
