Welcome Message from General Chair

Welcome to the 2018 IEEE Blockchain Summit Korea which is being held during 7-8 June 2018 at Supex Hall, SKT Tower, Seoul, Korea. Since IEEE Blockchain Initiative (BCI) was formed in January 2018 by IEEE Future Directions, this is the first major event organized by IEEE BCI (https://blockchain.ieee.org/). This summit will introduce all areas of blockchain ecosystem, including blockchain core engines, blockchain applications, blockchain startup acceleration, telco blockchains, and tutorials for developers. Blockchain, the distributed ledger technology underlying Bitcoin, presents much promise to numerous industries. As widespread attention and interest continues to garner around this emerging technology, it important to ask three questions: What is the state of the technology today? Where is the technology headed? What are its interesting and useful applications? Accordingly, 2018 IEEE Blockchain Summit Korea will bring together thought leaders, decision makers, users and technologists to discuss the challenges and opportunities of blockchain technology. Attendees from industry, academia, government, and users will present on various topics including the current technology landscape, applications, use cases, policy, and regulation. There will be exhibitions and demos of blockchain technology and its applications during this summit. We are also officially launching IEEE Blockchain Korea Group, which is one of the blockchain communities growing around the world. This two-day summit has been organized by a blockchain community in Korea before IEEE Global Blockchain Summit (http://sites.ieee.org/blockchainsummit/), which will be held during 17-19 September 2018 in Gaithersburg, MD, USA. However, this will be a good opportunity to discover why the blockchain activities in Korea are so vibrant and leading the world, and why “Kimchi Premium” recently happened in Korea. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the speakers, members of Organizing Committee, Advisory Committee, IEEE Future Directions, IEEE BCI, and volunteers for making this happen in less than 6 weeks. To those who have traveled to Korea, welcome to Seoul and enjoy this city renowned for its cultural and entertainment. Sincerely, Prof. James Won-Ki Hong General Chair POSTECH, Korea

PATRON DESCRIPTIONS Eden: https://edenchain.io/ Eden is a blockchain-based platform that can be used to capitalize and trade all types of assets through programmable economy technology. By using blockchain Smart Contracts, you can capitalize all tangible and intangible asset values through tokenization. We use smart contracts to integrate real and virtual economies, creating a fundamentally new programmable economy platform. The use of Eden’s programmable economy platform includes the following advantages: 1) It can lower transaction costs due a system that is bereft of a middleman. 2) It can redistribute the profits that the middleman has monopolized. 3) It creates a new market that has never existed through the capitalization of domestic and foreign materials; this in turn can enrich the lives of many by returning the economic benefits back to them. theloop: http://www.theloop.co.kr Founded in May 2016, theloop has developed its own high performance blockchain platform under the vision of "Hyperconnect the World”. theloop provides a customized private blockchain solution to financial institutions. In December 2016, theloop was selected as a blockchain technology partner for the financial investment industry consortium, which was formed by 25 securities. theloop technology also supports the governance of the ICON network, one of the most notable blockchain projects in the world today. Kodebox: http://kodebox.io/ Kodebox is a tech company on a mission to create and enable a smarter asset management system leveraging blockchain technologies. Its flagship open source project, CodeChain (codechain.io), is an optimal solution for companies that need programmable multi-asset management systems. CodeChain Protocol, supported by a fast BFT-based consensus algorithm, defines how various types of digital assets (currencies, tokens, items) are issued, transferred, and controlled on a blockchain network. It also supports special transactions such as asset evolution, fusion and lucky draw. Stayge One: http://stayge.io/ STAYGE Network is an artist-fan ecosystem using blockchain technology. Until now, it was difficult for fans to have their activities and influence recognized or compensated for properly. STAYGE Network fairly records and compensates the activities and influence of fans through blockchain technology, consequently enabling an equitable incentive and reward balance for participants in the ecosystem. The compensation rewarded to the fans is circulated in the artist-fan ecosystem, leading to sustainable development in the industry as a whole.
