Hello TA Prep Family, A. November is American Diabetes Month. Did you know: You can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes? If you have diabetes type 2, learn more about thriving with healthy lifestyle modifications. Use this link to learn more. http://www.diabetes.org/are-you-at-risk/?loc=superfooter B. Our Campus is continuing our Hand washing initiative in order to reduce the spread of illness during the school year and especially the winter months. Washing your hands is one of the simplest ways to decrease germs that cause respiratory and diarrheal sicknesses. Please join us at home by making sure your family members wash their hands frequently! Learn more at: https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/index.html C. A few reminders: 1. We understand the difficulty in obtaining time off from work, or childcare when your child is sick. However, for the good of the entire student body, staff, administration and your child, we must continue to request that students be kept home if they: A. Have a fever of 100 degrees or more within the last 24hrs. (must be fever free without medication) B. Have an itchy or painful rash (a physician's note is needed for return indicating the rash is not contagious) C. Have a continuous cough D. Have had vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hrs 2. I am not allowed to give your child any medication (even asthma inhalers, over the counter meds, cough drops etc) without an authorization to administer prescribed medication form with a physician's signature. These forms are available in the medical room or main office. The forms will also be available on our website within the next couple of months. There are students with diagnoses of Asthma, Anaphylaxis and Seizure disorder attending school without their medical paperwork, medications, OR self carrying medication without paperwork. Please communicate with us regarding your plan to rectify this situation and a date by which you will do this. If your physician indicates your child no longer has the specified medical diagnosis and does not need medication, please have the physician submit that information in writing. 3. Students will need to be picked up if they are ill. Please double check in Renweb for your most recent telephone number and email address so that we may contact you. Please contact the office if your contact information needs to be updated. 4. In the event of an emergency, we need your signed consent to emergency medical treatment. Every effort will be made to contact you in advance of treatment. The majority of parents have completed this form, however some have not. Please sign and return any notices I have sent that indicated the necessity of the form. D. Hearing and Vision Screenings are soon to come. We will be screening Kindergarten, First grade, 8th grade and any student in special education. If your child has already had this screening performed within the last 12 months please provide me with documentation. If you have any religious observance that does not allow for this screening to be performed on your child please let me know in writing. Thank you! Nurse Jenn
