Sir,I shall feel grateful if you kindly publish the following few lines in the column of your esteemeddaily news paper. I wish to draw the attention of the public, government and officials towards thenuisance that has been created due to loudspeakers.

Loud speakers have became great nuisance in our area. They are used in marriages, Jagarans, meetings, rallies and all sorts of social, religious and other gatherings. Poor students and patientsare the worst suffers. They have no sense that peace of residents, as well as their health is beingbadly affected by this monstrous act. They have no right to disturb us by playing the loudspeakersat high pitch especially after 10 p.m. Hope the authorities incharge will look into the matterseriously.

Hoping for your diligent and favourable response

5. ‘Education for All’ (10 Marks)In a developing country like India about half of its population is illiterate. The campaign‘Education for all’ has so far remained a distant dream. India produces the best of doctors andengineers in the world. Now it is coming up as a country of software exporter to U.S.A andEurope. But still India remains an educationally backward nation. It is shocking contrast.Recently many organizations have come forward with the idea of ‘Education for All.’ The Centraland state governments have woke up rather lately. Even China, Malaysia and other developingnations of Asia have higher literacy rate than India.

Economic backwardness and educational backwardness go together. Bihar, Orissa, Assam,Nagaland and Kashmir are semi-illiterate states. Unfortunately, the Primary Education in Indiahasn’t been given the priority it deserves. Rampant poverty prevents young children from going toschools. The evil practice of the ‘Child Labour’ continues unabated. The Mid-day meal programmehasn’t proved to be a great success. Many social, cultural and voluntary organizations can play animportant role in translating this dream of ‘Education for all’ into reality. Education and economicgrowth go hand in hand. The ‘Open Schools’ have proved to be very successful. They need to bepopularized especially among the villagers and economically weaker sections. School-educationshould be made compulsory and free. Only universal and purposeful education can lead India on ahigh road of progress and prosperity.

Good morning Respected Principal Ma’am, teacher and my dear friends. Today, I Priya Tyagi ofClass XI A will deliver a speech on ‘Importance of Discipline in life.’

Discipline means self-control, and tendency to act most appropriately on all occassions. Disciplineis the base of the whole universe. The Earth, the moon and the other planets revolve on a set orbitaround the sun. The sun rises and sets, the seasons change, the moon wares and wanes and thenight follows the day in due order. All these phenomena are governed by some law of nature.Because of this there is perfect harmony and beauty in nature.

Discipline is essential for smooth functioning of school and colleges. Without discipline theirwould be total choas all around. A student has to obey his/her teachers and the Principal. Even inthe play ground one has to obey rules of the game and honour the decisions of the referee.

The importance of discipline in the political life of a country is really very great. Only a nation ofdisciplined citizens can rise to glory and success. Discipline is absolutely necessary for theprogress of a nation, as well as an individual.

Discipline ensures smooth flow of life without putting hindrance to the individual’s liberty. Itteaches us to be systematic towards achieving our goal of life and to achieve our ambition.

Thank you.Take care

For this he knew very well that it is possible onlywhen they (Students) will learn things practically. Booker wanted his students to be morehygenic and smart and active in all way for that he emphasised on the practical knowledgemore than the bookish knowledge. He realized that mere freedom was not enough to endslavery. The question was to change the mindset of the whites who considered them fit onlyfor manual work. He himself struggled for education as he was convinced that it was the onlyway to improve the blacks and this could be only possible if the students would get practicalknowledge.Booker believed that the magic wand that could bring the blacks at par with the whites wasthe smooth amalgamation of traditional education and manual work and labour. His idea of education coupled with academies. He quoted many examples to prove that moreeducation could not cope with the increasing demands of the educated people. He laid stresson a new work ethic where Industrial labour was an integral part of learning.

After four days, a furneral procession was carried out in which everyone including Otisfamily, Duke of Cheshire, Lord Centerville, Mrs. Umney and many other, people withtorches in their hand followed the furneral procession. Virginia was quiet sad thinking of theGarden of Death which she had visited with the ghost. After the funeral Mr. Otis goes to LordCanterville saying that they cannot keep the jewellery which the ghost had given to Virginiaas Mr. Simon was Lord Canterville’ ancestor and so the jewels belonged to him. But LordCanterville refused to take them back and says it is a gift from their side to Virginia on herwedding. Few year later, Virginia gets the jewellery box as her wedding gift. After her lovelyhoneymoon, the couple visits Canterville chase and the ghost’s grave. Virginia showers redroses on his grave and pray’s for him.

The precious jewels given to Virginia by the Canterville ghost belonged to Sir Simon who wasan ancestor of Lord Canterville. Since there was not any other heir to Sir Simon except lordCanterville, he was the legal owner of the gems. So like a gentleman Mr. Otis wanted to givethem to the lord. On the other side the Lord said that he (Mr. Otis) bought the house alongwith its ghost so he (Mr. Otis) should keep the jewels with him Besides, the ghost gave themto Virginia who won for him a corner in the garden of death. So, Virginia is the rightful ownerof them and they should be given to her as a gift on the occasion of her marriage. It showsthat both Mr. Otis and the lord were very honest and gentle.

5. Trees are blessing in disguise. They purify air. They maintain balance of gases in air. They controlair-pollution. They attract rain which is very important for our agriculture. Their roots hold thesoil together preventing soil erosion thus maintain the fertility of soil. Each part of the tree-roots,stems, leaves, flower and fruits are used in our food. They give us drugs. Fire woods is used asfuel.

They provide shade and shelter to animals, birds and insects. To acknowledge their contributionwe celebrate Van Mahotsav. Forests are important to fight against green house gases which areimpacting climate change. Less forests would result in less rain.

Deforestation has many negative effects. Cruel persons cut down trees mercilessly on a largescale resulting in destruction. Deserts will expand and rivers will dry up, their would be shortageof water and lot’s of acres of barren land. Dramatic effect is a loss of habitat for millions of species.70% of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests and would not be able to survive withoutforests.

A more workable solution to carefully manage forests resources is by eliminating clear-cutting tomake sure that forest environment remains intact. Cutting of trees should be balanced byplanting enough trees to replace the old felled trees. (10 Marks)

Good morning respected Principal Sir, Teachers & my dear friends. Today I Rohit Luthra of IX Agoing to share my views on the topic ‘Internet is a boon if used judiciously.

The internet revolution has ushered in an era of change in our lives. Internet has opened up newopportunities for trade and industry and brought about a wealth of information. It has proved aboon and guiding factor for millions of students across the globe. It has become a majorsupplement to class room education. Preparation for competitive exams have become quietsimpler as many sites provide guidance, model question paper and latest trends. Internet can beused in research and home work. It is the best place to gain knowledge and information.

Any lesson can become motivating, exciting and memorable for a student when he is aided withaudio-video information from internet. Internet is an efficient means of communication. Itcontributes to students broader understanding of information and communication technologies.Career planning is a major benefit as one can see information in courses, prospectus of his or herdesired fields. Online transactions for banking, shopping etc. have become possible and quicker.

The internet can be good or bad depending on the extent to which it is used and abused. UsingInternet is a must for today’s youth so a middle path where in an awareness towards its harmfuleffects and its productive potential should be publicized in a constructive manner on a widerplatform.

11. One movement which gripped the entire human race was Green Movement which started in 70’snearly twenty five years ago. This movement has not looked back. In the twentieth cetury, therehas been a revolutionary change in human perceptions. We have begun to take a holistic view ofthe very basis of our existence. The earth is now regarded as a living organism of which we areparts. It has its own metabolic needs and process necessary for staying alive, which needs to berespected and preserved. The environmental problem does not indicate our death, it is ourpassport for the future. A new world vision of holistic and ecological vision has emerged. Thisregards the world as a whole rather than a collection of isolated parts. This vision has ushered inthe Era of Responsibility. Industrialists, politicians and writers have become environmentfriendly and realized their responsibility in preserving the non-renewable natural resouces.

There is indeed a great difference between text book medicine and the world of practicingphysician. Text medicine gives a physican information regarding the symptoms of an ailment andthe treatment to be administered to the patient but he cannot rely on it unless he had treated thepatient with properly diagnosed problem a medicine to cure it completely. While practicing adoctor had to bring in several innovations keeping in view the complexity of the case. We observethat Andrew rightly diagnosed from the symptoms that the child was suffering from as phyxia, palida. It was a case of suffocation or unconsciousness caused by lack of oxygen and excess ofcarbon dioxide in the blood accompanied by paleness of the skin, weak pulse and loss of reflexes. He knew the treatment to be given to the child but the child did not respond to it. Then he used aninnovation and the child recovered. A practising physician has to use his mind, keep presence ofmind alongwith his text book knowledge of medicines.

(b) The twins may be called the heroes of the novel. They are lovely and delightful. They arecalled ‘The star and stripes.’

The little children are supposed to be scared most of the ghost. But the twins in the novelfirghten the ghost so much that it become difficult for him to save his honour. He forgets allabout frightening the Otis family, goes to the back and becomes defensive. He becomesridiculous and comic because of the presence of the twins. First hey hit the ghost with apillow, then they shot two pellets on him from their pea shooters.

On another accasion they threw a jug of water on him and make him run away in panic. Thenthey appear at night and frightened the ghost crying ‘Boo’ in his ear. They make the novelinteresting and impart to us the lesson that nothing can frighten a bold and reasonable man.

As Virginia entered the house from the back door and found the door of the Tepestry chamberopened, she noticed some one moving inside the room. She thought that it might be hermother’s maid who would sometime bring her work there. She, therefore, looked in to askthe maid to mend her ways. But she was flabbergasted to see the canterville ghost sitting bythe window in a very depressed mood. He held his head in between his hands. He was so lostin grief and despair that he did not notice Virginia in the room. Virginia’s heart was moved tosee the pitiable condition of the ghost and decided to console and comfort him.

The ghost disclosed the secret of his tragedy to Virginia because she was kind hearted andsympathetic towards him, while her brothers were vindictive. She was moved to see him indepressed posture. She told him that he might live in the house peacefully provided hebehaved himself. When the ghost revealed how he was starved to death and denied a place inthe gardern of death because he had died unwept, unprayed and without making repeutence,Virginia prayed for the peace of the ghost’s soul. He expiated before embracing death and wasforgiven by god.

So Virginia is the only Character in the novel that feels pity for the ghost. She accompanieshim to the angle of death and request him to show mercy on the ghost. She weeps and praysfor the ghost and helps him dying a natural death. It is because of the efforts that the ghostgets a quiet cover in the garden of death and is buried with dignity. Through her characterthe novelist gives us the message that love and kindness are superior to hate and revenge.

healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.’’ (10 Marks)Physical fitness means the conditions of being physically healthy especially with exercise andproper nutrition. It is the state of general well-being marked by physical health and mentalstability. Now-a-days most of the people believe that having a physically fit body is the mostimportant thing that a person can possess. The easy access to gyms and fitness centres help tokeep their body physically fit. This has resulted in people leading longer and healtheier lives.Physical fitness is important for everyone to stay active throughout their lives. It provides us withmore energy, strength and stamina, keeping the excess body fat off, keeping our bones flexibleand strong with prevention or reduction of low back pain. Regular exercise improves brainfunction and the chemicals released in the brain during exercise helps to overcome depression, anxiety, stress and anger. Aerobic exercise and weight lifting strengthen the immunity systemand it also help in providing sound and undisturbed sleep.Life is much more enjoyable when you’re fit and healthy. The earth is today a patient in declining health. The hope for its better health lies in humanbeings becoming more responsible. This responsibility can be seen in the seen in the new conceptof sustainable development. It means the development for the present needs without compromis-ing the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Man has now realized that it is in ourown interest to live in co-operation with all other creatures instead of trying to dominate theworld. Now we realize that we are not the masters of the earth. We share it with millions of othercreatures. Man is the most dangerous animal because he can destroy the ecology of the earth. Ifwe do not use the natural resources wisely, with restraint, we shall leave behind a scorched planetof deserts and impoverished landscape. The people have begun to look upon the world as anintegrated whole. It is an era of responsibility. In the new world view, people feel concerned forthe survival of not just the people but of the planet. The new world view is the holistic view of ourexistence. We can survive or perish only with all other creatures—our future is linked with otherliving beings, as they also have equal right on it.

Same is the case with mobile phones technology.Psychatrists proclaim that in 21st century mobile phone addicion has become one of the majornon-drug addiction. The addiction towards their mobile phones could threaten the very fabric ofsociety. Many children feel uneasy when they are unable to contact their friends countless times. They send millions of text message every day. They easily get annoyed if they are distracted fromtheir mobile, they suffer sleep loss due to late night usage, fell nervous and moody. The numberof accident on road can also be contributed to the use of mobiles while driving. Addiction towardsmobile phones has severly effected their health and society life as they don’t want to deal withpeople face to face rather that opt to talk over mobile or just sent a text message.Parents should set time for usage, trace their usage, find activities that would minimize the use ofphone like attending concerts, movies or sports events. Parents should make the children awareof the delicate line between them becoming addictive or non-addictive.Thank you. Have a nice day.
