15TH ANNUAL NEWS AND DOCUMENTARY EMMY AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED BY

THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS AND SCIENCES

New York, July 18 -- The 15th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Award Nominations were announced today by John Cannon, President of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. A total of 124 nominations in 28 areas were selected from nearly 1, 250 entries. The Emmy Awards will be presented September 8 at a black­tie dinner and ceremony at The Plaza Hotel, New York City.

As in past years, newsmakers of national and international prominence will participate in the ceremony bestowing the coveted Enuny to today's premiere electronic journalists from the worlds of broadcasting and cable.

"The News and Documentary Emmy Awards are awarded to individuals, programs and program segments determined on the basis of excellence by blue ribbon panels of peers," noted Cannon.

The numerical breakdown, broadcast entity, as compiled by the independent New York accountancy firm of Lutz & Carr, follows:
