WHO'S WHO

GENE RAYBURN (Mel Edison) host of the long running comedy game show MATCH GAME, found his springboard into show business on the radio show RA YB URN AND FINCH in New York City. The show was a tremendous success and set the trend and style of many similar shows which later copied its format . After parti ng with Finch, Mr . Rayburn ven­tured into local television. During the days of live T .V. heap­peared on such programs as KRAFT THEATRE and ROBERT

MONTGOMERY PRESENTS. Mr . Rayburn 's popularity grew from his work as Steve Allen's sidekick on the original TONIGHT SHOW .

Mr . Rayburn has tread the boards of numerous Summer Stock Theatr es throughout the East. He played the lead in the musical BYE, BYE BIRDIE for six months at the Shubert Theatre in New York. Mr . Rayburn also appeared on Broad­way as Alan Baker in Neil Simon's first comedy smash COME BLOW YOUR H ORN and headed the National Company of the same show. Mr. Rayburn, in additio n to hosting his own show, has guested on WHAT 'S MY LINE, TO TELL THE TRUTH , PASSWORD and TATTLE TALES to name a few.

Mr . Rayburn, a native of Chicago, now resides at Cape Cod Massachusetts and Los Angeles during the winter with his wife Helen .

SUSAN LOUGHRAN (Edna ) a seasoned performer of off-Broadway, Regional and Dinner Theatres throughout the country, is starting her second year with the St. Edward's Theatre staff as an acting and costuming instructor. On the Northen stage she has appeared in SHENANDOAH , A FUNNY THING HAPPENE D .· . . FORUM and TOBACCO ROAD. Ms. Loughran was voted by the Austin Circle of Theatres as best comedy actress for the '78-'79 season for her role as Billie Dawn in BORN YESTERDAY. Ms. Loughran, whose extensive professional career has carried her across North America, has demonst rated her versatility as an actress in roles ranging from Shakespeare to THE WIZARD OF OZ. She toured the South as Miss Thomas' English Muffin and has promo ted many products in national tele­vision commercials. Ms. Loughran has also done several productions for WNET Public Television in New York and is founder of the Earth Sign Theatre in Kentucky.

THOMAS GRAVES (Harry) most recently appeared on the Northen stage as Leslie Bromhead in NO SEX PLEASE , WE'RE BRITISH with Noel H arrison. An acting and speech professor, he also directed last fall's highly successful production of BORN YESTERDAY. Mr . Graves is presently in rehearsal for our second summer production, the thriller VERONICA'S ROOM starring Marcia Wallace of the BOB NEWHART SHOW . In his professional career he has appeared in the National Touring Company of INHERI T THE WIND starring Melvyn Douglas, on Broad­way with Jay Robinson in CALIG ULA and off-Broadway in THE BOYFRIEND and THRE EPE NNY OPERA. H e has directed professional productions of AUNTIE MAME, OTHEL LO and ALL MY SONS. Mr. Graves appeared in the Emmy win­ning CBS documentary THR EE FACES OF THE MIDDLEWEST and performed in the film THE HOOD LUM PRIEST with Don Murray. On the Dinner Theatre circuit he has appeared with Martha Raye, Van Johnson and Marjorie Lord.

MARY SCHEITI NGER (Pearl) began acting at the age of six when she appeared in a local television commercial in her hometown of Buffalo, New York. While in Buffalo she was a member of the Central Park Players and studied acting at the Studio Arena Theatre. Some of the roles she portrayed since coming to St. Edward 's include Vibrata in A FUNNY THING HAPPE NED ... FORUM with John Schuck and Jenny Anderson in SHENANDOAH with Allan Jones. She also appeared in IOLANTHE and in the workshop production of NIGH T MUST FALL.

PAULA JOWANNA (Jessie) a junior Acting major from St. Petersburg, Florida last appeared as Ellie May in TOBACCO ROAD with John Carradine, which was voted by the Austin Circle of Theatres as best overall production for the '78-'79 season. She has also played Tillie in THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS and was in the workshop production NOON.

ELLEN BLACK (Pauline) a sophomore Theatre Arts major who was a member of the chorus in IOLANTHE is making her debut on the Northe n stage in this pro­duction after performing in numerous shows while in high school.

MICHAEL STUART (understudy to Mr. Rayburn) last portrayed Arnold Needham in NO SEX PLEASE, WE'RE BRITISH with Noel Harrison. He has appeared in many childrens and work shop producti ons since coming to St. Edward's. In his na­tive Chicago he has played Nick Bottom in A MIDSUMMERS NIGHT DREAM and Jerry in ZOO STORY. Mr. Stuart is also the Technical Director for the sum­mer '79 season.

WILLIAM J. McMILLIN (Announcer and understudy to Mr. Graves) a senior who will be graduating in December '79 was voted by the Austin Circle of Theatres best supporting actor in a musical, for his role in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ... FORUM. He also served as understudy to John Schuck in the same show and was Robert Alda's underst udy in THE MOUSETRAP . Mr. McMillin last appeared as Cesare in A YARD OF SUN and as James Daley in THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON an acting seminar production . He also directed a workshop production TH E HAI RY FALSETTO and is currently the Production Coordinator for the summer '79 season.

PETER O'ROURKE (Director/Designer) is a versatile theatre person, working as actor/director/designer and producing/manager. National tours include Eddie Bracken, James Whitmore and Dick Cavett. On the West Coast he has designed for ABC, and CBS television and the Seattle Repertory. On the East Coast he has pro­duced over forty "star" productions for his own summer stock theatres. In Austin he has appeared with Godfrey Cambridge, William Smith, Michael Cole and di­rected Robert and Anthony Alda, Jordan Charney and John Schuck. Most recently he appeared as Myrna Loy's husband in RELATIVELY SPEAKING at the Coun­try Dinner Playhouse. Mr . O'Rourke is Director of Theatre at St. Edward's and President of the Austin Circle of Theatres .
