FALSE VIEWS OF THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT
• Extend the Old Law—Clarify – Corrected just the traditions of Pharisees, not giving a new
law. Not So “I SAY UNTO YOU” Jeremiah 31:31-34
• The Premillennialism View– Preparing the kingdom—Jews rejection of kingdom and Him.
Postponed and to be done later! False! Colossians 1:13; Revelation 1:9
• Social Gospel View of the Sermon– World sure—but not the next. Make this one as good as can
be! Good “ethical teaching.”
• The Ecumenical View– Meaning “inner faith.” Good ethical principles practiced by
all religions. Doctrinal differences never important to Jesus. Not accurate! Matthew 7:13,14, 21-23
