1.GeneralM/s SESA INDUSTRIES LTD. (SIL) a group company of Vedanta Plc., a UK Stockexchange listed company, is presently operating two blast furnaces, each of 173 m3working volume in its existing plant at Amona, Goa. The two blast furnaces, named asBF1 and BF2 are producing around1.4 lac MT of hot metal per year from each . Thefurnaces were initially designed for 0.75 lac MT of hot metal per year by Tata Korfduring their commissioning in 1992 and 1994. Over a period of time, throughimprovement in furnace peripheral system and with better operational practices theproduction capacity has been increased to its present level. With the increase inproduction, other facilities like hot metal handling, hot metal runner length, etc. became

just adequate to handle the hot metal produced and proving to be a bottleneck in thesystem. Any further improvement in production demanded de-bottlenecking of thesefacilities.

BF 1 is running in its fifth campaign since May 2006 and SIL has planned a capacityincrease of this furnace to 215 m3 along with its relining from March 2010 to April 2011.SIL also plans to introduce Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI), Oxygen (O2) Enrichment andSinter in due course of time to improve the productivity. As a result, to handle theincreased hot metal production, the de-bottlenecking of allied facilities will also be takenup along with upgradation of blowing capacity and raw material handling facility.

This is part of the tender inquiry is for services of Mechanical, Civil, Refractory,

    Electrical and Instrumentation.
