SYSTEM APPROACH

What is system approach ? A system approachIs an old concept. The approach stands on the Assumption that breaking down of a complex conceptInto simple easy to understand units helps in better Understanding the complexity within any organization.

Deterministic system :- A system is deterministic if its outputs are certain. This means that the relationships between its component are fully known and certain. Hence when input is given output is fully predictable.

Probalistc System:- A probalistc system is one where the output from the system behaves probalistcally. The output is predictable according to probablity values.

Random system :- Random system are completely unpredictable systems. One is completely unaware of the components and their relationships with each other and hence, the output is random. An example of random system is the transport system.

Human system :- A human system consists of humans as components. It is an open system exhibiting probabilistic behaviour. An example of this kind of system is a department within an organization.

Machine system :- A machine system is composed of entirely of machines and machine subsystems. It is deterministic and relatively closed. An example of this type of system would be a fire alarm system.

Adaptive and non adaptive system :- A system is said to be adaptive if it Modifies itself with the changes in its environment. A democratic system of government is an example of adaptive system. A non adaptive system does not react to changes in its environment.

APPLYING THE SYSTEM APPROACH TO TO PROBLEM SOLVING

Defining the problem :- This is the stepWhen the problem has to be defined. This is the initial stage of problem solving.

Page 13: system pproach

Developing alternative solutions :- this is the logical next step in the systems approach for problem solving. In this stagealternative solutions are generated.

Selecting a solution :- in this step, the Solution that suits the requirement and objectives in the most comprehensive Manner is selected as the best solution.

Page 14: system pproach

Designing the solution :- once the most appropriate solution is chosen, it is then Made into a design document . At this stagethe details of the solutions are worked out to create the blueprint for the solution.

Implementing the solution :- it is next step in the process. The solution that has been designed is implemented as per the specification laid down in the design document.

Page 15: system pproach

Reviewing the solution :- this is the final step in the problem solving process wherethe review of the impact of the solution is noted. This is a stage for finding out if thedesired result has been achieved that was Set out.
