Introduction, features and benefits

XPress Multi is a new innovation for the distribution of plumbing and heatingwhich represents a real advance in terms of reliability and application.

Pegler Yorkshire has added XPress Multi to itscomprehensive product range to ensure thatwe continue to offer a pipework system forevery application.

XPress Multi complements the other systemsthat we offer and has features which make itideally suited to the following applications:

Connection to fan coil units XPress Multi offers flexible installation onfinal connection to fan coils, chilled beamsand manifolds. This in turn minimises jointuse and reduces vibration transmission whichmeans that the system is quicker to installand quieter in use.

Connection to radiatorsAnother characteristic feature of XPress Multiis the clean white finish of the pipe thatlends itself to final connection to radiators. The pipe is easily formed and retains itsshape. This means that it’s simpler and moreconvenient to use when making the finalconnection, saving time and cost. Thealuminium layer in the tube also makes thepiping resistant to oxygen diffusion into thewater which helps prevent corrosion of anyferrous components in the piping system.

Under floor heatingThe dimensional stability and low heatexpansion properties of multi layer compositepipe along with the aluminium layer thatkeeps the pipe from returning to its originalcoiled shape makes installation easier. Thiswith the requirement for fewer clips to holdthe pipe in place means a saving on bothmaterial and labour during installation.

XPress MultiXpress Multi pipe comprisesPEX/Aluminium/PEX, and is a perfectcombination of metal and synthetics. It isjust as suitable for new installations as it isfor renovations for all plumbing and heatingapplications.

Xpress Multi with Visu-Control® SystemXpress Multi has a connection system withimmediate crimping proof that you can seeand touch.

Visu-Control® SystemThe green ring added on each connectionenables easy verification of fittings which have been left uncrimped at the time ofinstallation and before filling or pressuretesting the system.

System characteristics Compatibility: Xpress Multi pipe with

Visu-Control® is compatible with profile TH tools.

Crimping: Thousands of tests carried out inthe laboratory and on site confirm that thejaws of a crimp machine are not affected byusing the Visu-Control® system.

 Patent: Visu-Control® is a patentedtechnology.

Fitting features1. ‘U’ shaped window: allows pipe to be

viewed to ensure correct installation.2. Tinned surface: prevents corrosion

in concealed installations.3. O-ring protection: avoids any risk of

damage or dislodging when fitting the tube.

4. Easy tube connection: fittings are easily connected.

5. Dielectric protection: limits electricalcurrent and prevents corrosion.

Range fittingspecificationXpress Multi with Visu-Control® fittings areavailable for heating and plumbing applications,in sizes from 14 mm up to 63 mm for XpressMulti pipes.

Visu-Control® fittings are made according toEuropean standards. They need to be crimpedwith a TH profile press tool jaw.

1. Plastic ring to maintain sleeve and to check crimping has been made.

2. EPDM O-ring DVGW Certified, according to W534.

3. Brass body according to EN 12165 and EN 12164.

2. Deburr the inside of the tube and wipeto remove any debris. Recalibrate thepipe using a calibration tool set to thecorrect diameter. (This gives a bevellededge and ensures the pipe is completelycylindrical).

4

4. Make the tool safe by isolating it fromthe power supply. Select the correctjaws for the joint being made, checkingthat they are free from damage. Attachthe jaws, following the instructions foryour particular press-tool, and reconnectthe power supply when ready. Place thejaws over the green ring of the fitting, maintaining a 90° angle to ensure theintegrity of the joint, and to protectyou from ‘kickback’, where there is a riskof the machine moving sideways. Withthe tool fully supported and nothanging from the pipe work, and withyour hands safely away from the jawsstart the pressing cycle. Releases thejaws from the fitting and inspect thejoint visually check that the fitting hasbeen crimped. On completion ofinstallation visually check that ALLfittings have been crimped.

Installation at the base of a wall

1. Cut the pipe using pipe shears at 90°angle to the pipe. This ensures a squarecut without burrs. Don’t forget to addthe length of the pipe inside the fittingin your calculation («A» dimension).

3. Push pipe firmly into fitting until thepipe appears in ’U’ shaped window.

Note: When using power tools, great care must be taken at all times. Always refer to the manufactirers’ instructions for all machines and tools you use.For 40mm, 50mm and 63mm jointing sling jaws must be used. For further information on press-fit jointing please refer to video on websitewww.pegleryorkshire.co.uk and Xpress data book Lit Ref: 880296.
