Emilia has a very complicated labor and both she and the baby nearly die. Pepa and Gregoria manage to save her life by practicing a Cesarean section, but Emilia is very weak and her life is in danger. Emi-lia finally wakes up while Alfonso looks after her, and Gregoria leaves Old Bridge for good.

Soledad swallows her pride and begs Olmo to marry her in front of all the workers, but Olmo will not budge. One night, Olmo meets up with Isabel, a very sick woman with a very big secret. Soon after, we discover that Olmo and Isabel have a son named Fernando, and Olmo confesses as much to Francisca, since he has finally decided to accept Soledad as his wife.

Tristán move in with his father, Raimundo, and asks his mother, Francisca, for his part of the inheri-tance. Francisca hits the ceiling and is determined not to give him anything until he makes a public apology, but Tristán refuses to do so. Francisca gives Tristán an ultimatum: unless he breaks up with Pepa, he will be disinherited.

Pepa proposes to Tristán and he accepts, but only if they marry the very next day.

News of the wedding is a huge surprise to everyone, and even though the bride and groom didn’t want anyone to attend the wedding, half the village shows up at the ceremony. Francisca finds out about the wedding through Olmo, but, by the time she gets there it’s already too late; they are already married.

Pepa and Tristán happily live out their dream life. After the first few weeks, Tristán starts thinking about looking for work, and Pepa suggests he manage the assets she inherited from Águeda. Olmo is very upset that Pepa no longer trusts him.

Francisca demands that Olmo marry Soledad and threatens to reveal his involvement in Águeda’s death. Now that Olmo knows he has an heir -Isabel’s son- he’s only too happy to marry Soledad, and Francisca is the first to be surprised about this.

Alfonso is reluctant to express his affection towards María, since, even though she is Emilia’s daughter, she is not his biological child.

Tristán suspects his mother can walk and, with Pepa’s help, he manages to confirm this suspicion. Du-ring a party at the mansion, Tristán tells everyone the truth.

After the party, María gets sick, and Pepa says she urgently needs a certain medicine, so Alfonso deci-des to go look for it, even though this means risking his life by riding horseback all night; he is finally starting to feel like the girl’s father. Just then, Pepa has a fainting spell and realizes she is pregnant. But, just when she’s about to tell Tristán, Gregoria reappears and says she is also pregnant. Pepa asks her to leave so that she can clear her head. Gregoria confesses to Francisca that she’s expecting Tristán’s baby, and Francisca makes a public acknowledgement.

Olmo and Francisca come up with a plan to force Soledad to marry him, but what they don’t realize is that Soledad and Juan have plans of their own. Plus, Emilia goes back to work for Francisca, while her cousin, Adolfina, looks after her daughter. Emilia is unaware of her cousin’s intentions with respect to Alfonso.

Tristán arrives just as Pepa and Gregoria are in the middle of an argument; he is overwhelmed with joy when he finds out through Gregoria that Pepa is pregnant. When the roof of Gregoria’s house caves in, Pepa suggests to Tristán that Gregoria come live at the estate with them, but she’ll be sorry when she realizes that all Gregoria wants is to manipulate Tristán and make Pepa look bad.

Isabel’s body is found in the river and Fernando is sent to live with his father, Olmo. Fernando looks at a photo of his mother and promises to avenge her death. Adolfina badmouths Emilia in front of Alfon-so, and he is increasingly bewitched by her, until, finally, she manages to seduce him. Juan and Soledad make plans to elope, but Enriqueta writes a letter to Olmo telling him everything.

As far as Gregoria can tell, Tristán and Pepa are growing closer every day, so Gregoria goes to visit Francisca, who tells her they’re now ready to attack. A flood destroys Pepa’s crops, but, as luck would have it, Francisca’s crops are spared. The scheme Gregoria and Francisca had planned backfires, and Gregoria herself ends up getting hurt and losing the baby.

Juan gives Alfonso and Emilia the restaurant as a gift; now they are the owners again. But Alfonso is still confused and feels guilty for allowing Adolfina to seduce him, and Adolfina takes advantage of this to seduce him again. Alfonso tells Emilia the truth and she asks him to give he some time. Alfonso throws Adolfina out of the house, but Adolfina won’t give up that easily. Meanwhile, Gregoria finds out that she has lost mobility and blames Francisca for everything.

Just when they thought their problems with the land were through, Tristán and Raimundo discover that someone has spread poison on their property. They find out Francisca and Olmo did it and Tris-tán decides to seek revenge. Soledad confesses to Olmo that she and Juan are running away from Old Bridge, so Olmo will make a deal with Enriqueta to stop them from leaving. Emilia and Alfonso make

up, but Adolfina won’t let things stand.

Tristán goes to the house and threatens Francisca and Olmo with a shotgun, but Pepa arrives and manages to prevent a tragedy. Tristán tells Francisca he is no longer her son. Olmo and Enriqueta are prepared to kill Juan and Soledad. Meanwhile, Adolfina has created her own fantasy world and is con-vinced Alfonso is in love with her.

Enriqueta follows Juan and Soledad as they set out to leave; she shoots Soledad, but Juan gets in the way and ends up dead. Enriqueta disappears and Olmo gives orders to have her killed. Soledad puts all her assets in Tristán’s hands and rejects her mother, whom she thinks responsible for everything that has happened. The entire village goes out to look for Enriqueta. Soledad goes back to the house to get Olmo off Tristán and Pepa’s backs.

An unidentified person burns down El Jaral, nothing is salvaged. Plus, there is a problem with Pepa’s pregnancy, and Tristán goes to work at the restaurant. Adolfina comes back to Old Bridge and takes María away, but Alfonso manages to save the child. Raimundo has found a way to save his property, but, in order to carry out his plan, Tristán will have to go away for a while.

Olmo keeps having all sorts of accidents that appear to be caused by someone; it is none other than Enriqueta herself. Meanwhile, Pepa and Tristán are going through a crisis; Tristán is out of work and Pepa’s pregnancy is in danger. Plus, Tristán has to go away in order to find a way to solve the problems with their property, but he is kidnapped on the road.

Olmo finds Enriqueta and runs her out of the village, but Mauricio sees her and tells Francisca, who also gets news that Rosario has decided to leave the house for good.

Tristán’s kidnapper is working for Francisca, who has also given him orders to tell Pepa the truth in hopes of upsetting her and endangering the baby’s life. Pepa and Mauricio set off to go look for Tristán, but, on the way, Pepa goes into labor. Tristán manages to run away and, on the way home, he runs into Pepa, but Pepa has labor complications and is losing a lot of blood.
