The movie isabout two parallel stories;one,that of aBuddhist monk is search of his innertruths that takes him away from the abodeof his guru in idyllic monastery inmountains and brings him face to facewith prostitutes in a city brothel. Histhought about life and enlightmentundergoes complete transformation.

Simultaneously there is a female cityBuilder whose belief in life is all aboutpower,greed and manipulation;and shedoes this with a vengeance.She has a pastthat compels her to lead a life ofpower;but that past turns out to besomething else with devastatingconsequences.

Report on RWMfollowed by Club Assemblyon 5th August

The RWM began with the introduction of our new member Deval Tibrewala who operates a chain of hotels in Bengal. He waspinned by our very own PRID Shekhar Mehta. In the program series- "Its serious business Dost", Rtn.Anil Bothra talked abouthis business of machines and Rtn. Pradeep Biyani shared details of his computer hardware business. It was interesting andmotivating to hear how they have scaled up their companies in such a short span of time.

President Deepak Choudhury shared with the house, details of some of the activities like the Blood Grouping Camp held atBidhan Sarani, replenishment of medicines at our Homeopathic clinic, anti trafficking day at Kalighat and Solar lamp projectin Sunderbans by Rotaractors.

Post RWM, in the ClubAssembly, President Deepak shared the progress made by all the different committees in the Club in thelast one month. He applauded their efforts and informed that almost all committees have had at least one meeting and membershave been planning meticulously to ensure that Club activities are on schedule and work is being done. President Deepak wasindeed happy to observe that members of Team 2016-17 were sharing the Club's work load so well.

AntakshariThe feeling of liveliness and freshness for the soul can best be attained by independence of thought, expression, belief, faith andworship. The celebration of 'Independence' was very much in tune with the meaning of the term.Creative mind and imagination by team lead byAnand Sureka put forward the theme 'Masti ki Pathshala' and instantly imbibedvivacious and nostalgic feeling into the members. Members were divided into four teams. Immediately, they got benevolent,letting imaginations run wild, burning night lamps for the preparations.

As the President, Dipak Chowdhury declared the show open, PRID Shekhar Mehta, set the ball rolling, playing the role ofVirus, giving a lucid, short, crisp and hilarious speech. This brought liveliness in every corner of the auditorium and membersgot into the characters of their individual roles in the skits prepared by them. The young look, expression and behavior acrossevery member ruled the show. An amazing medley of events in schools was enacted and each member put in spectacularperformance, so much, so that the judgment to choose the best performer was a difficult job. To mention a few, the roles playedby Harkesh Gupta, Rashi Mehta, Sudha Rawat, Pushpa Bansal, Rina Bhandari, Pramila Dugar & Pradeep Rawat left membersspell bound.

The building enjoyment and excitement was escalated many times by the tune, music, singing and lyrics - 'Ae mere watan kelogon' sung by none other than our dear , melodious - Aparna Biyani. Our great singers - Dipak and Dr. Udey , along withAparna put together their heart and soul to make the show marvelous. The 'Antakshri' was once again conducted by PRIDShekhar Mehta in a deft, enjoyable and passionate way. The afternoon was interspersed with a wide spread of foods, beveragesand deserts starting from churan- chutney, to a sumptuous meal matching the theme. The event was par excellence with an overwhelming attendance.

Project Hunger – Bodhi Peeth

On 7th August 2016, team Mahanagar led by President Rtn. DeepakChoudhary visited Bodhi Peeth, a home for mentally challengedpeople and hosted lunch for around 100 inmates of Bodhi Peeth. 100numbers of mosquito coils and 50 Kgs. of Bleaching powder was alsogiven. The event was sponsored by Rtn. Ashok Kr. Agarwal and Ann.Usha Agarwal on the occasion of Birthday of their sons Ayush andSambhav. It is really a very heart touching experience and a verynoble way to do the birthday celebrations of their children. On thisoccasion Rtn. Praveen Jain, Ann. Veera Jain, Ann. Neena Gupta,Mother of Rtn. Ashok Kr. Agarwal and Sambhav Agarwal werepresent.

Today the first complete installation of our E-learning Project was done atJatragachi High School, Raharhat. Though the process took nearly 3 hoursto complete, the excitement in children prevailed. They stood there to watchthe completion and were very excited about a new technology in theirschool for the first time.

20 years old female and the mother of 1 years old baby Mrs.Hera Bibi live at Dhoradaha village in Nadia. She was involved in aroad accident and her legs got broken plus burnt with boiling fuel from tank. She is admitted in Medical College and Hospital,College Street, Kolkata. Her husband Mr. Azahar Mondal is a daily worker. Our club Rotary Calcutta Mahanagar understoodher seriousness and contributed a wheel chair to help her in her critical situation on 11.08.16 at Medical College.

DignityThe construction of 30 toilets is under process and will be completed by 25th August2016.Due to monsoon the speed is little slow. Thanks to our partner NGO and members ofour Mahanagar for their valuable support all the time.

Sri Aurobindo Ghose was born on 15

August 1872. He was an Indian

nationalist, hindu philosopher, yogi,

guru and poet. He was a spiritual

reformer, introducing his visions on

human progress and spiritual evolution.

Aurobindo developed a method of

spiritual practice he called Integral Yoga.

He believed in a spiritual realization that

not only liberated man but transformed

his nature, enabling a divine life on

earth. His main literary works are The

Life Divine, which deals with theoretical

aspects of Integral Yoga; Synthesis of

Yoga, which deals with practical

guidance to Integral Yoga; and Savitri: A

Legend and a Symbol, an epic poem. His

works also include philosophy, poetry,

translations and commentaries on the

Vedas, Upanishads and the Bhagavad

Gita. He was nominated for the Nobel

Prize in Literature in 1943 and for the

Nobel Peace Prize in 1950.
