INTRODUCTION

Library management system is acomputerized system, which help alibrary organization to manage its

tasks in a very simple, systematic,logical, efficient and effectivemanner. It is a less time consumingmethod. It is a technique intensivemethod, which is of great help tolibrarians, members and many more

people



PROBLEMS IN THE CURRENTSYSTEM:-

Any new system is developed because of the some limitations of the previous system to leaves that limitations we think to develop a newsystem. Our library management system is a manual system, so some

problems with manual system are:-

Manual handling takes lots of timeto answer a query.

Not able to get details on author.(I.e. It supports topic or subject

indexing)

Fine calculation is difficult ismanual system.



Increase the chances of losses inmanual system, for example book

loss and fine loss.

It increases the manpower,overhead and takes a lot of timein manual library system.

The manual system is very slowsystem.

In manual system there aremaximum chances of errors.

Library management system isvery large system .It is very largeso it is very difficult to survive it gracefully.

The manual system is not fit inour 21st century because of slow

processing, inefficiency & for more expenses.



OBJECTIVE:-

Computerized system can handlelarge volume of books.

Computerized system can giveanswer to almost all type of queries instantly.



Any type of detail can begenerated in a few time periods.

Inventory report can begenerated in computerized system.

Defaulter list can be generated very easy and quickly.

Enable their participation inresource sharing library networks.

Enable rapid communicationwith other libraries and

professional peers.

Improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of services.

Scope



This project changes themanual library system in tocomputerized library system.

It can handle all type of libraries small as well as large.

Computer trained person get jobs easily.

It makes library system soeasy, that even a layman canhandle it.

It reduces the chances of losses for example book loss,

fine loss as fine is calculated automatically.

It reduces the manpower,overhead and time moreefficiently than manual library

system.

It can answer variety of queries.



It can install in any library,which is using manual systemcurrently.

OVERVIEW

Project is related to librarymanagement which provides:

Reading services to itsmembers.

Any person can become aMember of the library by filling a

prescribed form.

They can get the book issued, sothat they cab take home and return them.



PROPOSED SYSTEM

There will be three majorcomponents:

1. Stock maintenance.

2. Transaction entry.3. Reports.

Proposed system provides withfollowing solutions:

provides "better and efficient"

service to members.

Reduce the workload of employee.



Faster retrieval of informationabout the desired book.

Provide facility for proper monitoring reduces paper work and provide data security.
