Center for Global Science (Prof. Omar Yaghi, UC Berkeley) and Vietnam National Univer-

sity-Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) leadership are pleased to announce a University of

California, Berkeley (US) Center for Molecular and NanoArchitecture (VN) symposium,

titled 150 Years of Beautiful Structures and Defects in celebration of the 20th anniversa-ry of VNU-HCM and in honor of Professors Michael OKeeffe and Osamu Terasaki. Distin-

guished international scientists and Vietnamese researchers will engage in a two-day

symposium intended to report on recent advances and progress made in structural

chemistry. The symposium will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on November

15-16, 2014 under the co-sponsorship of MANAR and UC Berkeley.

    Hosting Organizations

Center for Molecular and NanoArchitecture (MANAR), Vietnam

Center for Global Science, College of Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley (UCB), USA

Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Vietnam

PurposeThe symposium on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and similarly related materials is

organized to honor Profs. Michael OKeeffe and Osamu Terasaki immense contributions to

the scientific communitys understanding of chemical structures and defects. The sympo-

sium seeks to strengthen the relationship between Vietnamese scientists and international

colleagues and provides a forum for the discussion of recent advances in materials

science and inorganic chemistry research. The goals are to engage the Vietnamese scien-

tific community and to foster collaborations in the field of porous, crystalline materials.
