  • 1. SYMBIOSIS: Interdependence of Living Organism

2. The Symbiotic Relationship Song 3. What is symbiosis? Symbiosis (greek symbioun, to live together), in biology, term for the interdependence of differentspecies, which are sometimes called symbionts. 4. There are three main types of symbiosis, based upon the specificrelationship between the species involved:mutualism, and commensalism.parasitism, 5. Interdependence of Living Organism Organismslivingtogetherinanecosystem depend upon one anotherin order to survive. They interact in a number of ways to enable them toacquirefood, shelter, support and transportation.protection, 6. Types of Symbiosis Commensalism Mutualism Parasitism Cooperation Competition Predation 7. Commensalism It is a relationship in which oneorganism is benefited, but the other is not harm. 8. Mutualism It is a relationship in which bothorganisms are benefited, such they become mutuallydependent upon each other. 9. Parasitism It is a relationship in which theparasite is benefited ,but the host may be harm. 10. Cooperation It refers the beneficial interactionof the same kind of organisms. The organisms, however, do not become dependent on one another. 11. Competition It occurs when both organisms having the same needs live in the same area. 12. Predation It is a relationship between the predator and its prey. The predator injures the prey. 13. Organism in Symbiotic Relationship SymbiontsHost 14. Symbionts Are animals or plants living in close and often mutually beneficial association with another of a different species. 15. Host A human, animal, plant, or other organism in or on which another organism, especially a parasite, lives. 16. Summary Organisms living together in an ecosystem depend upon one another in order to survive. They interact to each other for them to acquire their needs. Many relationships are symbiotic or they live together for the benefit of one or both.
