The IECSystem forConformityTesting to Standards for Safety of Electrical Equipment (referredto as the IECEE) is based on the use of specific IEC standards for electrical equipment. TheCertificationBody (CB) Schemeapplies to electrical equipmentwithin the scope of IEC standardsfor safety, accepted for use in the IECEE. The purpose of the CBScheme is to create one standardacross countries and remove the international tradeprotection fromcertifications and standardsof individual nations.
CB
CCC (China Compulsory Certification) is a standard addressing products relating to humanhealth and safety, and environmental protection.
CCC
CE (Conformite Europeenne) is a standard for Europe addressing RFI (EMC directive2004/108/EC) and low voltage standards (directive 2006/95/EC).

Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is a EuropeanCouncil (EC) standard covering mandatory regulation of chemicals entering the EuropeanUnion. The relevant regulation is EC 1907/2006.
REACH
Restriction of theUse of CertainHazardous Substances (RoHS) is a directive for environmentalprotection released by the EU in 2003.
This regulation addresses limiting the maximum amount of hazardous materials present inthe production of electronic equipment.

3Chapter
The chassis includes the following features:
■ The air channels and holes in the chassis are used to dissipate heat for allcomponents.
Technical specifications for the chassis include the following:
■ Dimensions (H x W x D): 87 mm x 430 mm x 704 mm.
■ The chassis can be installed in a standard 48 cm (19 inch) rack cabinet or in arack cabinet with a depth of 100 cm (or larger).
See “SIEM 9700 Series hardware structure” on page 14.
Disk modules and drivesThe SIEM 9700 Series appliance contains eight disk bays. Each bay can hold onedisk module, which includes a disk carrier and a disk drive.
Physical viewThe front panel of the SIEM 9700 Series appliance supports 8 hot swappable 2.5”form factor disk drives. The drives are labeled 0 through 7, from left to right.
See “SIEM 9700 Series appliance front panel” on page 15.
The SIEM 9700 Series appliance also contains two non hot-swappable internal,highly-available flash storage drives for the operating system.

Disk drive featuresThe disk drives have the following features:
■ The operating system of the SIEM 9700 Series appliance is installed on twointernal, highly-available flash storage drives.
■ The disk in slot 7 of the drive is designated as the hot-swappable disk.
■ Provides storage capacity.
Warning:When data is being read or written on disks, do not power off the deviceby turning off the power. Otherwise, the data on the disks may be damaged. Topoweroff thedevice correctly, issue the shutdowncommand through theoperatingsystem, which invokes the proper operating system and hardware shutdownprocedure.
Disk module LEDsOne disk inside a carrier defines the “Disk Module.” There are two LEDs on eachdiskmodule. One LED indicates disk status. The other LED indicates Power and/orActivity.

SIEM 9700 Series appliance power modulesThe rear panel of the SIEM 9700 Series appliance contains two power modules, one situated on top of the other. Eachmodule has oneACpower connector (socket)and an LED status indicator.
See “SIEM 9700 Series appliance rear panel and ports” on page 17.
29Hardware componentsSIEM 9700 Series appliance power modules
The power modules support hot swapping. A fault on one power module does notaffect the normal running of the SIEM 9700 Series appliance.
It is recommended to have both power modules attached to the main AC powersource. If one module or source fails, the other module maintains power to thesystem without interruption.

SIEM 9751 and 9752 8 Gb FC HBA LEDsThe 8GbFCHBAs connects the SIEM9751 and 9752 to other network and storagedevices. It can provide two or four HBA FC ports (depending on if you have SIEM9751 or 9752). By using the HBA card (Fibre Channel), data can be exported fromthe SIEM 9751 or 9752 to a tape library for offline storage.
