STFD responded to four (4) mutual aid given and five (5) automatic aid given incidents in JUNE.

On 05/07/2016, STFD provided one (1) unit and three (3) crew members for mutual aid given @ 5272 Monroe St by Toledo Fire & Rescue Department for a EMS

Call.

On 05/24/2016, Springfield and Toledo Fire & Rescue Fire Departments provided mutual aid given to Sylvania Township Fire Department for a Structure Fire.

On 05/31/2016, Sylvania Township Fire Department provided mutual aid given for Springfield Township Fire Department standby, cover assignment at Bancroft and Old

Mill RD.

AUTOMATIC AID GIVEN

Incident #16-0001778

On 05/02/2016, Springfield Township Fire provided one (1) unit and three (3) crew members for an incident at 5000 S Main St for a structure Fire.

Incident #16-0001823 On 05/07/2016, STFD provided two (2) unit and six (6) crew members for an

automatic aid given incident in Springfield Township at 8433 Colt Road to Springfield Township Fire for and an Assist Invalid.

On 05/14/2016, STFD provided automatic aid to Springfield Township Fire Department at 2156 The Bluff’s for a cooking fire, that was confined to a container.

Incident #16-0002543 On 06/20/2016, STFD provided one (1) unit and three (3) crew members for an

automatic aid given incident in Springfield Township at 23 NB & MM-8 to Springfield Township Fire for a Motor Vehicle Accident w/injuries.

STFD received Mutual Aid for one (1) incident and Automatic Aid for five (5) incidents in

the month of JUNE.

(3) crew members for an automatic aid received incident at 3230 N Centennial Rd #8 for a Building Fire.

Building Fire.

On 06/29/2016, Springfield Township Fire Department provided one (1) unit and three (3) crew members for an automatic aid received incident at I 475 S/MM-13 for a

Downed Power Line.

Incident #16-0002710 On 06/30/2016, Springfield Township Fire provided one (1) unit and three (3) crew for

an automatic aid received incident at 4911 Burkewood Ct # 104 for a cooking fire contained to the container.

Medic 61

Medic 61 responded to thirty-seven (37) incidents in the month of JUNE as follows:

Of the 37 incidents in the month, nine (9) were cancelled in route.

Medic 61 transported twenty-seven (25) patients during the month as follows:

There were one (1) patients during the month of JUNE that were transported by

private vehicle in lieu of waiting for an ambulance to respond.

There were two (2) patients during the month of JUNE that were transported by GOLF CART TRANSPORT.

Community Risk Reduction

Public Safety Education

During the month of June, STFD assisted at six (6) School Fire Drills and installed three

(3) smoke alarms in one (1) homes. There were one (1) safety tours conducted at the fire stations.

Building and Project Plan Reviews

Notable Projects

Fire Prevention/Community Risk Reduction conducted nine (9) plan reviews in June, seven (7) license inspections for preschools, daycare facilities and/or home

inspections for adoption and foster care, six (6) final acceptance tests for installed or upgraded fire protection systems or new businesses, one (1) Freedom of Information

Act Requests, three (3) inspections with the State Fire Marshal’s Office and four (4) consultation requests from local businesses for safety and fire protection needs.

Fire Crews completed two-hundred ninety-four (294) inspections and

re-inspections in June.

Chief Froelich finished up state mandated training to staff at a local nursing care center

at the request of the State Fire Marshal office, worked with township and city police to provide emergency incident planning and preparation to the school system. Fire Crews

assisted 2 days each week (Fire day & Ems day) for both Safety City and Safety Town this month, providing fire safety education to the children as well as explaining to them

what we do to help people during a medical emergency or injury. We also were at the graduation ceremonies for each week.

FIRE TRAINING BUREAU

Achieving proficiency and professionalism through training and education.

Your Sylvania Township Fire Department has highly trained professionals that conduct

Extensive year-round training activities to maintain and improve their skills

In a variety if disciplines to help our personnel to perform the wide variety of missions they

may be assigned as the role of the Firefighter-Paramedic continues to evolve.

We are continuing to develop our Training Programs to instill a standard format. During the

month of June, we built upon the training that we conducted in May. The emphasis was to put

the skills together while conducting Engine Company evolutions based on NFPA 1410

scenarios.. We continued our focus to incorporate our newer employees to refine the hands-on

skills that they need to be successful.

All Personnel attended training that covered scenario-based hands-on training combining

multiple skills including: TW63 Operations & trouble-shooting; Engine Company Basic Pumps,

Single line-deployment, multiple-line deployment, hose pulls & proper reloading, working from

the FDC & Standpipe; Deck-gun & Master stream deployment: Incident command and

communications.

We also participated in the 2016 Safety Stand Down, which is a joint initiative of the National

Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). The event

is coordinated by the NVFC and the IAFC Safety, Health and Survival Section, and is supported

by national and international fire and emergency service organizations as well as health and

safety-related organizations and agencies. The focus was on training and education related to

this year’s theme: “The First 5 Minutes-Stretching the Initial Hose Line, Putting Water on the

Fire.

FIRE TRAINING BUREAU CONTINUED

Lucas County EMS CE during June covered Trauma and updates for the upcoming Rescue Task Force Training in September.

Sylvania Fire & EMS currently has 61 of the 62 Full-time Employees that are Paramedics. Over 1300 hours of training were conducted in June.

The ability to improve our service is generated through many ideas and initiatives that originate from

Our personnel, It is their values, energy, commitment and compassion that drive many of the Fire

Training Bureau’s functions, programs, and activities that support the accomplishment of our

Mission of providing excellent service to the community.
