Showers of Good Fortune A ll)emorable freezing rain fell tor the groundbreaking for

Green Ridge House, and a June downpour for ita ribbon-cutting ~remony. If those rainy afternoons connected with one of our city's great achievement& set a precedent, the festivities Sunday to kick off CHI's new rehabilitation program took place in a shower of lood fortune. Intermittent drizzles and heavier rains falling throughout. the afternoon did not deter a large gathering of resi'denta, friends and offieials from participating in the ceremonies at North End School inaugurating the program. Many even ventured out into the weather to watch a demonstration of insulation material being pumped within the walls of a nearby frame home.

Greenbelt, as the flrst planned community in the United States, has an assured place in history. GHI, the recipient now of the largest federal rehabilitation grant under HUD Section 312 may be forging a new place in history as prototype for a nationai pohcy to conserve what is valUable from our past.

Greenbelt came lnto history on the winds of change. May the centler weather of that autumn rain portend a spring renewal.
